The Hard Tackle

Taylor Harwood-Bellis wants Premier League stay amid exit links

Taylor Harwood-Bellis wants to remain in the Premier League beyond the summer transfer window amid his links with Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Taylor Harwood-Bellis will likely leave Southampton in the summer transfer window. Crystal Palace and West Ham United are keen on signing the English defender ahead of the 2025/26 season. The young centre-back has boosted the two London clubs’ prospects as he wants to remain in the Premier League beyond the summer.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis and his career so far

Taylor Harwood-Bellis has made gradual progress since joining Southampton from Manchester City. A native of Stockport, the Englishman spent his formative years with Manchester City, joining the Premier League champions as a six-year-old before progressing through the ranks at the club.

The 23-year-old broke into the first-team squad at Manchester City in the early days of the 2019/20 season but could not establish a foothold in the setup at the Etihad. Instead, he secured regular game time during his loan spells away from Manchester City before striking gold at Southampton FC.

The Saints initially signed the English defender on loan in September 2023 before completing a permanent move 12 months later. Harwood-Bellis has turned out 74 times thus far for his club while chipping in with five goals and four assists. However, with Southampton expected to suffer relegation from the Premier League, a summer departure might be on the cards. The situation has alerted several well-known clubs, including Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

London calling?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Taylor Harwood-Bellis is understandable. The Eagles are in a spot of bother over Marc Guehi’s long-term future, with the English international a target for several Premier League bigwigs. So, Harwood-Bellis has emerged as a viable target for Crystal Palace.

As for West Ham United, Jean-Clair Todibo might depart from the London Stadium after the 2024/25 season ends. So, the Hammers need a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, with Harwood-Bellis being an option worth considering. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Englishman is keen on remaining in the Premier League beyond the summer transfer window.

With Southampton poised to suffer relegation from the Premier League, the latest update has boosted the prospects of Crystal Palace and West Ham United. It will be interesting to see where the English defender lands when he leaves the Saints in the summer transfer window.
