What is it that so attracts you to a boring subject "still at the top" forcing you to post a comment on it and ensure that it stays "at the top"?

They're probably already going. I'd tell my old dear i was going round my Nan's, and be getting on a coach to Norwich. 

Depends on the kids. If they already go out and do things on their own, theyll probably be ok at the football.

 

My youngest was just 14 when I let him go to Southampton away last season.  Mind you he was only travelling up from Bournemouth. Not sure I'd want him going to a London derby on his own just yet. Life in Bournemouth in the 2000's is not quite the same as life in Forest Gate in the mid 70's

Depends on the maturity of the kid. If some gobby little chav goes up north looking to impress people he'll get a slap. Can't see any problem with a 15/16 year old going away as long as he's sensible and stays close to the main block of travelling fans.
I went to the away London derbies as as a12 year old and went to the more 'tame' aways, Southampton, Norwich etc when I was 14. Left school just before my 16th and started going everywhere we played from that season onwards (75/76). Classic example of what I said at the beginning. I went to Brussels in 76 for the ECWC final at 15 but made sure I stayed with a big mob of blokes and all was well ( bar the result).

I went on my own away in my mid teens back in the early 90s.

My kids go away since they've been about 18 but that's not really due to me stopping them but more how difficult it is to get away tickets.

My kids don't drink and don't wear colours and have been going to aways with me since they were little so I don't have any concerns about them getting into bother.

I used to go to Upton Park in the North Bank, on my own. I must have been about 11 or 12.

I think my first away game was possibly Blackburn, just the three of us. I was still at school so I must have been around 14 or 15. 

There was no trouble and I remember thinking jesus, it really is a different world up north. And it was fucking cold. Shearer scored a couple and gave us a smirk when the second or third went in. I got the impression he never did like us. 

I have vague recollection of going away to Charlton (when they were at Selhurst Park I think) as my first away. Probably about 17 though and just a tame London away. 

Was more thinking about a bunch of 16-year-olds going up the other end of the country in this day and age. As people have already said, though, depends on the kids and crowd they are going with I suppose.

 

I was about 15 so the tail end of the 1987/88 season. Us and Charlton stayed up at the expense of Chelsea I think!

Of course, the following year we were relegated and the one thing that sticks in my craw from back then is losing to Norwich 3 times in the space of a month around Easter.

Never mind the Luton semi-final in the league cup...

I got the nod from my old man at 16 as long as it was on the club coaches. In a big group of mates I would've been 17 in a decent sized groups.

Realistically, they will be fine around 16 I would say. The trains up and back to anywhere will be filled to the brim with other West Ham going to the game and when they get there just follow the crowd.

(For context, would have been around 10 years ago now). 

 

Spurs fans are really hard when separated from rival fans by a police cordon. They certainly talk a good game too. They are very hard on YouTube comments also.

It depends if they are clued up and who they are tagging along with I guess

I remember going at 12 or 13 to all manor of games with older lads from school who in turn hooked up with elder brothers and mates who took us under there wing and looked out for us.

Great fun and a rite of passage in some ways 








 

At the ages of 14 and 15 got jumped by Spurs muppets all in early 20’s on 3 occasions, Seven Sisters rd, outside White Hart Lane and Barking Station, on the platform

one of my mates looked a lot older, always went for him first
