The Hard Tackle

West Ham United set to run rule over Baris Alper Yilmaz, Semih Kilicsoy

West Ham United will reportedly send scouts to watch in-demand Turkish attackers Baris Alper Yilmaz and Semih Kilicsoy in the game between Besiktas and Galatasaray.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Yenicag Gazetesi, Baris Alper Yilmaz and Semih Kilicsoy are the subjects of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are scouring the market for versatile attackers heading into the summer transfer window. So, the two Turkish forwards have emerged as targets for the East London club, and they will scout him in the high-profile Super Lig tie between Besiktas and Galatasaray this weekend.

Baris Alper Yilmaz and Semih Kilicsoy: Beacons of rising Turkish stock

Baris Alper Yilmaz has seen his career take off since joining Galatasaray from Ankara Keciorengucu in July 2021. The Turk has become a productive attacker, with his output improving with each passing season. He has a decent tally of 11 goals and five assists in 40 appearances in all competitions thus far this term.

Yilmaz has also become a regular for Turkiye, making 26 appearances for his national side. On the other hand, Semih Kilicsoy is one of the most promising young prospects in his homeland, and he has come leaps and bounds since breaking into the first-team squad at Besiktas.

The 19-year-old has not become as productive as he would like but has a solid tally of four goals and six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions this term. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of West Ham United. The Hammers are also interested in Yilmaz.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Baris Alper Yilmaz and Semih Kilicsoy makes sense. The Hammers are combing the market for versatile attackers heading into the summer transfer window. While Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, and Crysencio Summerville are long-term solutions in the final third for West Ham, Niclas Fullkrug has struggled to make his mark at the London Stadium.

In addition, Evan Ferguson will likely return to Brighton & Hove Albion after the 2024/25 season ends. So, Kilicsoy and Yilmaz have emerged as viable targets for West Ham. The East London club will dispatch scouts to watch the Turkish attackers in the Super Lig clash between Besiktas and Galatasaray this weekend.

West Ham mulled over signing Yilmaz in the winter transfer window before the deal failed to see the light of day. So, it will be interesting to see if the Hammers can land the Galatasaray forward and Kilicsoy in the summer.
