Goodison - goodbye to the grand old lady

Final home game tomorrow after 133 years.

For the football romantics, another one of the traditional old grounds. I remember being in there for the end of season game when we nearly won the league... great West Ham support .

A couple of non - Everton statistics ;

in 1966 it staged both a World Cup Quarter final and Semi final

It was the only place in Britain where Bobby Moore scored for England
.

Goodison Park was always one of the grounds I always wanted to go to but, never did. And yes another old proper ground gone. Apart from their Women's team staying!

Fuck off, it looks the absolute bollocks compared to our fucking greyhound racing stadium.
I still honestly think we have the best stadium in London.
We don’t even have the best stadium in East London.
We don’t even have the best stadium in Stratford.

The warm up track outside is better than the soul-less bowl.

Nice old stadium, last I went Pickford saved a Noble pen which would’ve made it 1-1.

2 mins later Rooney scored from the half way line

Not sure what the big fuss is about
Everton will still be playing there next season

Not sure with the new stadium how they can afford not to sell it

Can add Loftus Road if the Rs get back up.

It was one of my favourite away grounds and I liked it that they still had the wooden seats in the away end. We never had much in the way of results at Goodison but that changed slightly in more recent years. Loved the 2016 game there where we made the comeback to win 3-2. One thing I really liked there was their coppers would quite often do a round of what was presumably meant to have been a show of force of banging long truncheons against the seats, in an effort to get everyone to sit down, and unlike a lot of other away fans I reckon, our lot didn't take a blind bit of notice of them and they eventually gave up.

The Hawthorns would be another to add and Hillsborough, if WBA and Sheff Wed ever get back up.

Can recall Everton fans used to refer to Liverpool by replacing Liver with the N word when John Barnes first played for them
They were one of the last to field black players
Heard one of their 70’s managers was a member of the National Front
Lovable Scousers eh?

We've had some  naughty rumbles over the years  for sure ...but mutual respect now I think .?

Always found em alright personally

They'll miss Goodison park big time  after the novelty wears off.
What's left ..Elland rd?

And Villa Park, but after that I'm scratching my head.
Yea Villa park..
Burnley as well next season👍

Peter fuckin Beagrie.
classic WHU that.
He is one  in a LONG line of shit hounds that have  tormented us over the years

I think its slightly ironic that a black man brought the curtain down by scoring the 2 goals when they were the last club to welcome black players.

I don’t think we’re in any position to be criticising anyone’s new stadium.

My only ever visit was when PDC caught the ball. Another proper ground gone. The new gaff certainly won’t be as soulless as ours, but they’ve lost something that will never be replaced.

Went there a couple of times, one of the great old grounds. Speaking of which, I still miss Highbury, used to love going o er there when we played them. And as much as it pains me to say, White Hart Lane was also another proper football ground.

I’ve seen us win there a few times. My first time there was 2-1 to Everton. We were in control of the game and Kovac scored an absolute cracker. Tomkins got sent off harshly and that was the end of that.
