Just proves the majority of people are no taste sheep. The public wants what the public gets as Paul Weller would say. 

Don't think any of the bands were consistently brilliant, and I'm not an Oasis fanatic, but Definitely Maybe is up there with the best albums ever made. The rest of their stuff, big shrug from me.

Think Tank by Blur is a great album, as is Dog Man Star by Suede, Different Class by Pulp.

Can't say I'm that fussed by much else.

Oasis basically became their own tribute band by the time the 90's ended. 

Blur constantly reinvented themselves over a long period. 

So talent wise, Blur. 

Oasis are basically the Billy Joel tribute in Step Brothers where he only plays 1980's Billy Joel. 

I won’t give an opinion as to who is better but it really is a mad world where people pay hundreds of pounds to indulge in a mass singalong of tunes, much of them thirty years old, that are derivative of music from thirty years prior.

Music like coffee and wine, is all good but largely comes down to personal tastes. I prefer Blur, more depth and lyrically interesting to me but they could still rustle up a sing along banger like Song 2, parklife.
I admire albarn for moving with the times and like gorillaz a lot. I know they (blur) reunited for a few gigs but like Depeche Mode have managed to avoid the nostalgia market.

Oasis best album, definitely maybe - and after what's the story it all went downhill for me. Blur kept improving and moving forward imo.

I always found the singer from Blurs voice fuckin annoying, however, loved the song Universal and my best mates dad sold his Fender Telcaster to Graham Coxon (he didn't have a clue who he was. 

Where's 97mde...or what ever the who poster was.

I wasn't a massive fan of either of them but Blur did some more interesting.
Bumped into Damon Albarn at the bar at a Cardiacs gig which was cool.

Oasis gave brilliant interviews in the Melody Maker and NME back then, really enjoyable reads. The fact that they portrayed themselves as naughty boys from a council estate definitely added to their appeal. Best interviewees though were without a doubt the Happy Mondays, being part of their set up must have been an insane ride. 
As for the music, I was always more of a Pulp/Verve fan rather than Oasis/Blur bit gun to head,I'd say Oasis did more for me for me at that time.

loved Blur mainly because of Coxon. Oasis in those first few years were great, so many excellent b-sides, then understandably lost the plot once the money poured in. those two in interviews back then were comedy gold

Blur v Oasis was a 90s version of Mods v Rockers. Always been more of a Mod a preferred Blur.

Personally, I can't stand Oasis.

I guess it really does come down to personal choice.
