They've 'literally' NOT had to do this. That was outside Curry's as a marketing 'warning' and nowhere else. It was hyped on socials as being all over London. It wasn't.

why would you not want to live somewhere with zero crime and great infrastructure?

What a div. Yeah, good life for his kids. I mean, they might get a death sententence for saying "fuck allah" but at least they won't get their mobile phone nicked.

Yes, it is. My late Mrs was from the North-East, so was up there a lot for a good many years. Great City, good people, and it's a football mad city with one big team to represent it, but I don't buy the rubbish about London. Nothing beats London. It's a capital city and of course, there's crime, but you just need to be sensible. Anybody who wears a watch worth stealing is a knobhead. All you need is something to tell the time by.

The thing is we have first past the post...The Dutch and Scandinavians have had proportional representation for as long as they can remember 60's/70's. It's not perfect by any means but they have learnt how to work it and get along for more of the time rather than less of the time. This will always be reflected in the standards of living.

There are more modern countries with far greater natural resources who have embraced it.

Kazakhstan are another who are bubbling along nicely and are a modern forward looking nation. Using their natural resources efficiently to rebuild the infrastructure and civil life of their nation. Contrast them with their neighbours Belarus who are a backward looking car crash who happen to maintain first past the post and the evidence is there for all to see.

If you look at Britain over the last 100 odd years - let's say since 1901 when Queen Vic died and the U.S & Germany had overtaken the economy in Britain. Since then our government has been overwhelmingly Conservative at the very least for two thirds of that entire time. The Liberals had a run of about 10-15 years and Labour about 30 years years. I've never voted for Conservative or Labour in a general election so it's not like I'm throwing pelters. 

These are facts not opinions so if things have reached this stage after so long under first past the post then maybe we need to ask why it has panned out this way.

I would guess there's a large number of people who would/will leave the UK when the opportunity comes up.

thankfully me and my kids have EU passports.

I, too, love my country of birth, as do my children.

Sadly it's my country of birth in name only and although much of the physical infrastructure remains, from a societal point of view, the majority of what made it good has been deliberately and systematically engineered away.

It's now just a piece of real estate with a "U.K." badge attached, as if that means something.

So, really, I should be saying "I, too, loved my country of birth...".

I work for one of the big four professional services firms and have done for nearly two decades and sadly no opportunities have risen to move abroad at any point. That said, despite the country feeling like it’s going under, I love this place, the culture and the people, but I’d jump at the chance to work abroad if it were a country of interest. 

When my kids came to live with me in Sweden after their mother threw them out in 1997, I was on the verge of chucking in the very nice contract I had and moving them back to a/the only country they knew.

My client had other views and went out of their way to help me find and secure accommodation, school places and medical care for them all, and, had the contract rolled on, we'd have stayed. It did put the kabosh on me heading up their security department recently established in Poland, though.

We then moved on to Germany, where the kids never settled and from there back to England.

Even the kids said that they didn't like it - so many aspects made their lives miserable (including having me as a father - I just know one of you is thinking exactly that).

Luckily, I then got offered a continuous series of contracts in The Netherlands, where we eventually moved & settled and they went happily through the Dutch education system.

Whenever the subject comes up, they still say that not staying England to raise them was the best thing I ever did for them. And that was 20 years ago. They saw then what we see now.

As a blanket statement for London, it's ridiculous. Obviously everyone exercises some care in certain areas which are rough or tourist hotspots or late at night but a bit of common sense goes a long way. It's hardly any different to most other big global cities.

I expect him to respect their customs and learn the language otherwise he's taken all the Arabs football jobs.

It's great that you're all well 'ard men who won't be messed with but I think he's more concerned about his family than himself, weird you all moan about grooming gangs and migrant crime then get all alpha when someone else wants their kids safe

Depends if you look like a fanny or not. Nobody ever tried to snatch my phone in London or anywhere else but I expect most of you wimps look like an easy target.

London is the world's phone theft capital.

That shouldn't be argued.

I wouldn't want to live in London either.  It's a shithole.
