Good to see him finding some form again the last couple of outings. Was some finish as well accurately tackled in to the net. Leading by example. Hopefully can keep it up over the Christmas period.

El Scorchio,
So you're one of the cunts calling out Scarles, wanker.
yes he miskicked the ball but the header by Todibo in his direction was appalling, the 2 central defenders were slow to react to the cross. I'm not exempting Scarles from the error but really...
He was our best player in the last 2 games, not saying a lot but he has stepped up.
Compared to others he shouldn't be blamed for anything really.
He's been hung out to dry by Nuno, the Brentford/Leeds games, coming back from injury with no minutes when he could have come on for Diuof against Villa (he brought on Soucek and Rodriguez when we went 3-2 down ).
Bowen should be having a word in Nuno's ear...

I don't blame Jarrod for feeling a bit down in the dumps. If our club was run competently more of the time rather than little of the time I'm convinced he would be happy to be here until he retires.Â
He's been as good as gold since the first day he arrived and never complained about anything. It's not his fault our club is run by a pantomime dwarf who models himself on Richard Burton's turn as Vic Dakin in Villain.
Probably reminds him of his father in law.

FEAR NOT.!
Bowen will get picked up by someone in the Summer. I'm sure the 100 bags plus. Per week. Will soften the blow. And help him through it.?

There is no natural leaders in this squad and that is a big problem.
Going back a bit but Moyes to be fair was desperate to bring in Harry Maguire to be that leader but old slab head resisted the approach.
Instead we ended up with Kilman in what must be the biggest transfer rip off of all timeÂ

Bowen certainly isn't the vocal Captain type but we still had some shit years under the greats such as Bobby (who wasn't a bawler), Bonzo and Alvin. Joe Cole and Bish weren't shouters and Upson says more on commentary now than he did as a player! For me as well as a Bobby, Billy or Alvin we miss a Lucas Neill, both in Captaincy and as a player. Problem is after Bowen then who? There isn't anyone.
The centre backs are clearly the big problem as Kilman especially just can't defend and whislt Areola can have a good game he has too many faults. However, and I pointed this out last week either Magassa or Potts has to just sit in front of them. We are playing two defensive midfielders but both get caught further up. None of our midfield impresses me if I am honest, certainly not at the moment. Â

If we’re basing who plays against Forest on performances against Wolves, nobody would get selected.
The serious point is that if Todibo remains injured, then Mav and Kilman will probably play. Which will be another disaster.
Â
Those two playing games will take us down. It was when Todibo wasn’t playing at the start of the season wasn’t it that we were getting dicked on week in week out under potter? I can’t remember if he was in the team or not.Â
I don’t know what manager can overcome having to play those two together. We need at least one new cb ready to go after the week off for the cup and to cross our fingers Todibo isn’t out for any time. Toothless as we are up front, we just ship goals with those two playing at the back. It doesn’t really help that we are playing both backup full backs for now as well. Congo and Senegal both went through so that’s longer without them. Laughable that losing our only decent cb and both full backs lines up with these crucial few matches. Fate really is conspiring to fuck us this season. We are all paying the price for Sullivan’s transgressions and idiocy.Â
IMO we aren't missing Diouf...Scarles has been notably better than him at defending.
I'd say it's questionable that we're missing AWB, as KWP has been no worse than him and arguably better at times.
I’m unconvinced by scarles really. Better defender but worse going forward and cost us a point against Fulham. KWP and AWB probs AWB but there’s not loads in it. He’s better though. Let’s face it, we could cope if the centre backs weren’t fucking abominable. Mav is less exposed with Todibo beside him but with that fucking car crash Kilman, he just brings him down to the same clown show level. 40 Fuckjng million quid. How?

It's the centre backs. Always has been, always will be until we sign upgrades.

Frankly you can't captain the side effectively from the right wing. And this 'Captaincy by example' thing isn't real Captaincy...and only works if you have others doing the actual standards leadership.
At the time it was hard to recognise, but it's a big shame Moyes didn't get Maguire over the line when he tried.
We badly need a guy in that mould. Our defence might as well tape up their mouths with ducktape for all the organising or communicating they do.Â
We need a sergeant major at the back desperately, and all we have is a bunch of lads that would rather skulk off to the sick bay.

There is no one else. Even Wilson is a mouse and you would have thought he might be more vocal but then he doesn't play that much apart from yesterday.
Potts is the only vocal player.,maybe Fernnades who likes an argument.Â
Potts needs to up his urgency up,maybe being captain may do that.
We have 2 center backs who are awful and the queitest in the league, not once did I see them shouting or demonstrating eagerness. Both shouldn't play against Forest.

In Army terms.. Bowen is the battalion golden bollocks.. the best at everything .
never a leader of men though..
put it this way , he'd make a hopeless full - screw, the lads would rip the piss out of him in double time.
good leaders of men are not necessarily the best at the shiny things ..
.it's a rare quality which requires supreme self confidence and belief in themselves , which comes naturally , you cannot teach it.

He’ll be gone in the summer. Which is a massive shame.
But we will be relegated. And he’s a very fine player. Make the most of him, as he’s highly likely to be playing elsewhere in August.

Has no one considered that it may not matter if someone were to come in for him THIS window? Its not beyond being a reasonable question and our board are stupid enough to entertain it.

It was one of Lopetegui's many mistakes
Saddling us with Kilman and Rodriguez and lumbering us with Soler for a year, failing to buy a striker and curating an old, imbalanced squad, not recognising the complete lack of leadership in the squad and then appointing Bowen as captain, something which neither manager that followed him could afford to reverseÂ

You don’t help yourself.Â
Teams have leaders across the pitch with different skillsets. Bowen’s is leading by example. After that, who the fuck else do we have?
For example, Odegaard is Arsenal’s captain, but Rice and Gabriel are the vocal leaders.Â
Bowen needs support, not blaming.
I agree. He’s one of the few players worth a place in the team, but if people are expecting Bonzo style leadership, they’re deluded.Â
Â
I think you’ll find I’m in the majority on this, you only have to listen to the fans who go home and away. They are sick of seeing players like Scarles looking visibly upset and Bowen just heads down the tunnel. He is a good player but he is a terrible leader. If Soucek plays give it to him but if he doesn’t then give it to Walker Peters.Â
Walker Peters. Â Fuck me you been on the juice. Â Geezers a wet blanketÂ

Bowen - great player, never captain material. We have no other player playing week in, week out who can lead us. Soucek would get my vote, but he is not playing from start to finish.
We’ve had far worse in the past, Nigel Reo Coker being one of them. Was Matthew Upson captain?Â
