Good film but not the greatest ever made IMHO.
However it’s more the production of the film rather than the story per se that marks it out. I believe it pioneered and set a lot of standards and techniques in film making, on screen storytelling and editing which just became the way films are made subsequently, so clever and groundbreaking was it at the time.
