Adama Traoré | Signed

West Ham United is pleased to confirm the signing of Spain international winger Adama Traoré.

The 30-year-old joins the Hammers from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, reuniting him with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who he worked under previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Strong, quick and able to create and score goals, Adama is a proven Premier League performer who will add experience and quality to Nuno’s attacking firepower.

Born in Barcelona, Adama came through Barça’s famed Academy before moving to the Premier League with Aston Villa in 2015. Since then, he has amassed 262 Premier League appearances, 14 goals and 25 assists for Villa, Middlesbrough, Wolves and Fulham.

“I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” said Adama, who will wear the No17 shirt.

“I've been seeing West Ham for a long time. It's a massive club, a massive fanbase. I've been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have.

“My mentality is always to do better. It's always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I'm the same person as yesterday, it's one day lost.

“I love the challenges. I think, of course, we have to go game by game. And this is what we're going to do, trying to do our best. I think everything comes from belief. And I believe we're going to achieve what we're looking for.”

Adama spent three of his best seasons with Nuno between 2018-21, twice helping Wolves finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. The Hammers’ Head Coach is relishing the opportunity to link up with the winger again.

“We are very happy to welcome Adama to the Club,” said Nuno. “He is someone I obviously know well from our time together at Wolves, and I am looking forward to working with him again.

“Adama is someone who knows the Premier League very well, and his unique qualities as a player will help us between now and the end of the season.

“He will give us a different option in attacking areas. He is also very motivated to fight for us and ready to bring energy, commitment and determination to our challenge.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Adama and his family to East London, and wish him every success for his career in Claret and Blue.

An awful start but I still say he will prove useful, defenders hate coming up against forwards with pace and strength. We all shit ourselves when he use to come on against us.

Not a game well suited to Traore. By the time he came on we had very, if any of the ball. From what I can see. his value will be when we dominate the ball and can open teams up using his pace by through balls. I also think if we are under cosh he can be used as an outlet. Problem was, when he came on against Chelsea he sat too deep.

Not suggesting he is decent enough or going to be good for us. But, again, like in the Kilman thread, I say again, of you use a hammer to slice roast beef then its not the hammers fault.

Nuno put him on.

After he throw the midget to the ground and João Pedro pushed him, he 100% looked like the incredible hulk. I'll bet João Pedro absolutely shat himself.
I have to say after watching  the video Far Cough posted it is fucking hilarious.
Yes I know it is quite serious for us,

Can't quite remember how it works but could the FA retrospectively ban Traore for violent conduct from what he did, or is it because The Ref decided to somehow only send off Todibo that they can't now intervene? I say this to benefit the Team not to hamper it with him being available..

you could probably scout a fitter, more technically sound player over hackney marshes who would cost fuck all. but of course that wouldn't get a number of attached/connected bods paid, so the pointless/shit signings keep flowing

Traore is what he is. A powerhouse with pace and little technique.

to expect him to work miracles is unrealistic.

does he add value to the squad. IMO, yes.

Everything we expected. A top heavy headless chicken who will add very little.  Ots defence, keeper and defensive midfield thars still an issue assuming Nuno had now written off Potts and Magassa.

Fucking stupid signing.  Ok, he’s cheap, but he’s nothing but a clapped out Michail Antonio tribute act.

In all honesty, for 2 mil I don't have a problem with this signing.
Obviously not going to score a shed load, but give's us an out when it's backs against the wall, and our defence is, being polite, not the greatest. As Leftfield  would say, 'Release The Pressure'.
An impact sub at best. As Antonio would now be.
Not all bargain basement signings turn out to be gash.
Balon Dawson, anyone?
