It’s no surprise that people want change when our present government took power with a mandate from a minority of the electorate. If we change government though because of the FPP system we will still be governed by a party that most of us will have voted against.

Unless or until we adopt a system at Westminster which proportionally represents the way people vote the UK is going to continue in this downhill route to chaos and oblivion.

If only we'd had a referendum on PR, so people could their feelings be known on the subject...

Yes, I wish we had had one. It would be much better than that referendum on switching to AV, a watered down and complicated version of first past the post, that we had in 2011.

We KNOW the current lot are not fit to govern under the Labour party mandate (through experience). We KNOW the previous lot are not fit to govern under the Tory party mandate (through experience). 

We have no experience of how Reform UK will perform as we have no experience of them either way. Surely that alone is a better reason for voting them in than continuing with either of the previous governmental parties who we KNOW are not up to the task.

You can smell the fear here, even online. The country NEEDS a change of people and policy in the elected administration.

The state and media will do all they can to prevent that change, but better by far that it happens by ballot, even, if, like Brexit, that ballot doesn't deliver what the state and media hierarchy feel they (and fuck everybody else) "justifiably" are entitled to.

With the drift of MPs from the conservatives to Reform we can see that many of those individuals were from the nasty wing of their party. In essence these leavers are helping sanitise Badenoch’s Tory remainers whilst at the same time ensuring that Reform retains its basic nastiness level.

There is now a problem brewing within Reform whereby candidates who stood for them in the last election, and run lots of close calls, are being pushed aside by Farage so that twerps like Rosindell stand. Romford constituency is a case in point where the conservatives are enraged about Rosindell’s defection and the Reformers want to retain their candidate who they canvassed for and nearly won with last time out.

What this undoubtedly shows is that Farage is no different to any other politician in the way he treats people within his party. And incidentally looking at the calibre of these defectors it’s as if Reform were a PL team it is taking the worst, not the best, players from a relegated team.

Agreed Bill. If I had my way, I'd have Advance UK in, but it's not going to happen. I'm not expecting miracles from Reform, but at the very least some common sense ideas to running the country. Supporting businesses, working people, clearing out the hotels (£53 BILLION a year on security alone FFS) and scrapping Net Zero.

That would be a start.

Its been said before but its worth saying again. 
The BLOB will see to it that whatever policies Reform try to implement, the civil service will find a way of stalling/ignoring them. Any real change will only happen if a sledgehammer approach is taken and a massive clearout takes place.

It’s a fine line Reform need to walk here. They’ve very little experience of running a government so will need to bring in people with experience and knowledge. However, bring in too many and risk looking like the Conservative Party V2.

I've said many times that I feel it's an election too soon for them to take power. I still feel this even if they bring in people with experience of governing (albeit very badly) the country.

They still need to be getting their undercurrent of direction out to the people/voters and acting on any feedback; they need to be seen as the party that listens because all (ALL) previous governments have demonstrated that they're weapons-grade past-masters at ignoring what the public want and giving what they need the public to want (to keep themselves in power).
