Re: Nuno Out
On 90 minutes just leave it. Less was more at that time. Up until then they had no answers.

If they stayed on I strongly believe we win that as the Team was set and looking very good for it with only injury time left to play at that point. Paco probably had an epi in the changing room after launching a few lucozade bottles at the tactics board and flushed an i-pad in a bog.
Overall I think he's done well recently with the results but without his tinkering substitutions we could have had even more points against Chelsea and now Man Utd.In my opinion his only mistake last night was making the sub before the extra time was announced. The subs stil lmade sense.
Vs Chelsea, I understand the sub even if it didn't work out. We were pushed back in a 6-2-2 in the second half, bringing Kilman was meant to let us go to a 5-4-1/5-3-2...but the wingers didn't do what they needed to.
He should have put on double wing backs AWB/KWP and Diouf/Olly and flood the midfield with Magassa/Potts pushing Fernandes further forward and putting Adama in the Antonio role up top.
Hindsight but would've been a better bet.
It's what Johan Cruyff would have done when he needed to be pragmatic - which was rare granted, but he wasn't adverse to it if required.

The reality of last night is that you MUST put away your chances (we had a few counter attacks) against teams with 70m players dotted everywhere. Thats all you can take from it. The point of them being expensive players is they can produce goals from nowhere like they just did.
Yep agree with that, nothing says we weren't allowed to score a second goal, but we couldn't do it. You nearly always need a second goal.

Re: Nuno Out
What actually could be done about their goal?
It feels incredibly risky to stick your leg out to block that shot and most likely concede a penalty.
The only thing we could have done is stop the cross coming in the first place to stop that goal.
It takes immense amount of skill to not really swing at that ball and still get in the top corner beyond any keeper. Our keeper wasn’t out of position or anything.
We tried to keep it the corner a few times but to be honest they were very direct as soon as the ball came back we were under threat again. To do this for 7 minutes against a team that needs that equalizer and who are the in form team in the country is pretty hard.

Re: Nuno Out
Teams like arse can shut up shop as they have only conceded 17 whilst we had let in 49. I would be interested to see how many times this has worked.

I’ve always been about the “teach a man to fish” philosophy. I’m not sure scraping some wins earlier on in the season without bedding down a consistent style of play would keep us up anyway. Maybe we have had to learn some tough lessons?
I think we may have got here faster if he done some proper analysis of our games and our players instead of working it out for himself. Also, maybe getting his own staff in would have stopped him trying some mad things.
But ultimately, the performances we are putting in now look better than the way we played under our last set of managers, even Moyes. Moyes’ football was effective but especially in the latter years, painful to watch. This stuff is more exciting and playing with 2 strikers and in essence 4 attackers up front, is just far more interesting than low blocking and counter attacking for 90 minutes.
Given our form I’m more confident that we would get something from against the bigger teams in our last set of games than if we hadn’t sorted out the style of football. Fingers crossed we manage it.
Good points here.
Any of our previous managers, Moyes especially, go to Chelsea and shut up shop, hoping not to concede and maybe, if we're lucky, catch a goal on the break to hold on to.
Despite the final result, it was a breath of fresh air to see us rock up with 2 strikers and Bowen and Summerville flanking them on either side, and then see that team go 2-0 up inside the first 45.
There is some work to do, but that philosophy is far more exciting and IMHO far more likely to succeed than parking the bus and hoping to counter.

Maybe he did and realised we needed some new players. It's not a coincidence that our fortunes have turned around since getting in two hard working forwards and a proper centre half.

I accepted the point as its hard to beat the ref as well.
Jesus christ that is an absolutely wild take. We are 4th in the form table with no sign of that form changing. What more do you want?
The difference in the way the team plays compared with Potter and Lopetegui is night and day.
Managers make mistakes, they are human, its a game of chess.

I actually thought he did alright? Got us up the pitch and injected some energy.

Agree, Nuno now making the right calls and last 4 or 5 games since getting the 2 forwards and more latterly Disasi and Mini Hulk, we have looked far more solid and giving all teams a run for their money.

He's rightly deserved a good kicking with how he royally fucked up the winless run around Christmas, that said he now does deserve the plaudits from turning this around making amends for his earlier fuck ups. Dare I say it, since the introduction of Paco the Madman, he's finally fucking LEARNING.
Keep it up, Nuno..

Managed the Team well today getting us back on track and finally got that clean sheet monkey off his back by not being camped in our own box for the entire half and by changing the Keeper. Attack is definitely the best form of defence for this lot.

Should we go down under him, especially after being seriously backed by the Board with the players he wanted, I reckon he'd find it hard for a while anyway
