Tuchel staying on with England until 2028
This has come out of the blue, much in the same way it did when they appointed him. Not sure about this as I thought the idea was for him to impress at the world cup before getting an extension? FA giving out new contracts like confetti, but citing this as justification..
FA CEO Mark Bullingham said Tuchel's extension would ensure the England squad and staff were fully focused on the World Cup.
"We know the players are right behind him, and the togetherness within the group is there for all to see," said Bullingham. "By securing them early for 2028, we have taken away the potential distraction of contract negotiations around the tournament."

That said if it wasn’t Tuchel which Englishman would be in the job?
Howe? Sir Southgate? Joey Barton? Eni Aluko?
Sean Dyche has got time on his hands now

Re: Tuchel staying on with England until 2028
A bit ridiculous to label someone as mercenary for accepting a job he was offered. Or have WHO’ers regularly turned down money earning opportunities for moral or ethical reasons. By all means blame the FA for making the offer it the first place. I believe no ‘foreign’ manager has ever won the World Cup.
Trouble is English ex-footballers are either too dim witted for the complexities of modern football management or prefer to opt for the safer job-for-life alternative as a TV pundit. “He’s got to hit the target from there, Peter”

I find it hard to get over excited about the world cup which is shame as it really was a massive highlight in my life. The levels of corruption inside FIFA are off the scale and the whole thing is engineered to keep the better teams in it for as long as possible, same as the champs league. Throw them all in a hat and have a straight forward draw, fuck all these pots off.
If Germany,Brazil,Italy and England were to end up in the same group then so be it.
78 82 86 90 were all the best for me, all countries with players from their respective country.
No zulus playing for fucking Iceland and the like...know what I mean.
Well err

This.
International football now is a farce.
Bassetts all - sorts
The main reason I have zero interest in it anymore, and haven't for years now.
I used to be well up for following my country and had almost as much passion as I do for WHU .
In 1990 if you told any ENGLISHMEN that a kraut would one day be the manager of the national side you'd be strung up

It’s a great job
Millions a year to work part time
What has he done in the last 6 months?
Free tickets & hospitality for any Premier league game he fancies watching

Makes sense to me.
If we flop at the WC, he goes anyway.

Yea possibly, but fuck me that's a stretch at best and we don't even know if he is an asset yet. Rewarded for doing nothing. The Spanish, Italians etc wouldn't do this.

He has probably been tapped up by a few clubs and so FA protecting their asset.
Can't think of any other reason why they would do this now. He hasn't achieved anything. Surely his target is simple. Go and win it. Why reward an extended contract without achieving anything?
