Adama Traoré | Signed

Post stubbo-admin »

West Ham United is pleased to confirm the signing of Spain international winger Adama Traoré.

The 30-year-old joins the Hammers from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, reuniting him with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who he worked under previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Strong, quick and able to create and score goals, Adama is a proven Premier League performer who will add experience and quality to Nuno’s attacking firepower.

Born in Barcelona, Adama came through Barça’s famed Academy before moving to the Premier League with Aston Villa in 2015. Since then, he has amassed 262 Premier League appearances, 14 goals and 25 assists for Villa, Middlesbrough, Wolves and Fulham.

“I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” said Adama, who will wear the No17 shirt.

“I've been seeing West Ham for a long time. It's a massive club, a massive fanbase. I've been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have.

“My mentality is always to do better. It's always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I'm the same person as yesterday, it's one day lost.

“I love the challenges. I think, of course, we have to go game by game. And this is what we're going to do, trying to do our best. I think everything comes from belief. And I believe we're going to achieve what we're looking for.”

Adama spent three of his best seasons with Nuno between 2018-21, twice helping Wolves finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. The Hammers’ Head Coach is relishing the opportunity to link up with the winger again.

“We are very happy to welcome Adama to the Club,” said Nuno. “He is someone I obviously know well from our time together at Wolves, and I am looking forward to working with him again.

“Adama is someone who knows the Premier League very well, and his unique qualities as a player will help us between now and the end of the season.

“He will give us a different option in attacking areas. He is also very motivated to fight for us and ready to bring energy, commitment and determination to our challenge.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Adama and his family to East London, and wish him every success for his career in Claret and Blue.

No I'm not. I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy son.. You stated he only played in two wins and pointed  out that they were an out of form team that everyone gets points from and a newly promoted team to devalue those wins.. Yet when a player you like was suggested to be dropped after them... I think you get the point.

No. Soucek had been long dropped by Nuno and since he started playing regularly again all our results and performances happen to pick up regardless of how poor or good they are. Piss poor form being Spurs, Burnley, or decent being Man Utd. The majority of wins and draws involving him all season long.
Listen son, this isn't hard is it.

Just admit at this time you're being a narrow minded hypocritical cսnt and then we can all move on, cheers 😉

If anything your hatred for Soucek has clearly been evident down the years, you even felt the need to bring him up yet again. Get over it and accept he's a lot better than you've previously made him out to be you narrow-minded cսnt. 😉

I haven't said Pablo hasn't helped us produce wins "In the League he's contributed to 2 wins", you are getting proper worked up over nothing for daring to ask more from Pablo who cost £22M. I just make the point that I want to see him produce goals as well considering that is also 1 of his main jobs in the Team to do and to date it's been 0.

But cause Pablo played, he only played against two easy teams you can't have it both ways..

Wilson contributed to 6 goals in the Prem whilst Pablo has contributed zero. Once he starts producing goals then he'll get praised for it as we certainly need goals in the League if we are to avoid relegation.

Cannot stand Traore. Wilson is clearly better than both in the Prem.
He clearly isn't in the system we want to play which is the front two pressing from the front and winning the ball back which Pablo does numerous times. Another player you've decided is shit without seeing his worth to a team that is trying to be better than the sum of it's parts, it isn't all about individual stats but about how they help what we're trying to achieve and we've looked better when he has been playing. He was a big part of why we battered Chelsea first half. Also why we sink back deeper when he gets tired, ideally we would have 2 of him and Taty as their work rate is immense but they can't keep it up for 90 minutes

The loss to Chelsea which you have mentioned as a dig at him we were winning when he went off as we're generally better and more on the front foot when he's been on the pitch despite his deficiencies

No, I mention the Chelsea result as it was factual and it was another game he did not score or assist in that we also lost. I cannot say we won the game if we hadn't. He is ultimately a Striker and should be partly judged strongly on his ability to produce goals at this level - a big reason why we bought him in the 1st place for scoring so easily in the Portuguese  League. Once he starts scoring then he'll be praised for it. The work rate side of things I have consistently praised him on and like that aspect of his game but temper it with it not being enough and hope to see more from his game than just that. So fuck knows where you boil it down to me saying he's just 'shit'. You're more easily pleased and that's fine but I want to see more and hope to see more from 1 of our new £22M Strikers in the coming months. He's certainly not been written off, I just don't think we'll miss him greatly rightly now when we have a goalscoring Striker who's helped us produce wins this season full of experience to instantly replace him in his absence.
I'm not even reading that bollocks because you've belittled him playing in the wins against Spurs and Sunderland yet when someone said drop Soucek your reply was along the lines of "drop Soucek who played in the last two wins, nope" but when you don't favour the player they're irrelevant because the opposition not great. But if he improves the over all play but doesn't score goals you'd rather Wilson who didn't score in 110 minutes against a league one team but didn't improve our over all play.. Yep two can play that game..

As said, a lot of strong opinions on what is essentially a squad player that has come in on a limited contract and not overly inflated wages, I guess he has a 'personality' that gauges opinions from people. Reality is he is going to come off the bench most games, sometimes he'll be shit and sometimes he'll contribute (like most subs). That's about the long and short of it.

What makes Pablo so good, who cannot score or assist? In the League he's contributed to 2 wins against a woefully out of form Spurs that everyone seems to take points off these days and newly promoted Sunderland not in good form and 2 losses against Forest and Chelsea. He also came on for the arse end of a Burnley victory already won. He runs around a bit and so he should at 22 but beyond that there's little else going on. I don't get the hype and don't think he will be greatly missed.

He probably makes more in a week than the whole Burton team. They didnt have quality but at least they were fucking normal, could manage the basics and were in decent physical condition. I cant believe some on here are making excuses for him, he's ridiculous - he's decided to do this to himself. Disasi has been training with kids for a year but at least he resembles a footballer.

i guess i not a fan and im quite cross with nuno for bringing him in.

Funny that Traore was the only player to show any type of decent control in the forward areas for us before Summerville etc came on. I just think he’s a bit rusty and needs game time. I still have a hard time understanding how any player can come through Barca’s academy and not have good skills. Feels like thats impossible. He said himself he needs more game time etc, so I dont know what anyone’s moaning about right now.

Also, who is really decent and available in Jan that isnt defective in some way? Why do people think you can just get what you need likes it’s Sainsbury’s or something? It’s always the equivalent of buying in the reduced good aisle in Jan!

Don’t get the hate. He’s not keeping anyone out of the side and it’s depth we didn’t have at the start of January in order to take pressure off the starters and grant them a rest where possible. We spent a relative pittance on him with no consequence if we go down and very little if we stay up.

I thought he showed a few glimpses yesterday but overall he has been poor and the shape of him doesn't help, as said it's hard to take him seriously. All that said, defenders hate pace and raw strength and I still believe at some point he will do something useful in the run-in.

There’s no doubt his effectiveness has declined as his weightlifting has improved. But he probably sets a good example in the gym!
I think that could be a very fair point, he has got so 'big' it's now effected how he moves etc.
