zico wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026, 16:37May have said this before so apologies if I have. I contacted British Airways several months before to see if mum would be able to take a flight as she designed concordes windows way back. They did reply but basically to say she could if she bought a ticket along with everyone else! Unfortunately I didn't have £20 odd grand lying around..
More trivial trivia:
If your mum was at Filton during Concorde's development, she may well have seen my father (working on the engines) and, during the school holidays, me, sat in the refectory, ostensibly to improve my French, but I suspect more to break the boredom for my father on his daily trips from Chadwell Heath to Filton.

A pedantic note or two, just because I haven't had one for a while
The Elgin Marbles have little to do with the town of that name but are linked to the Lord that shares his title with the town's name. And for even more nit pickiing Gretna Green is a small village not to be confused witj the nearby town of Gretna. But worries as zI got both corrrct
Wouldn't be the same without a pedantic note or two East!
Yes, I saw that re Elgin Marbles but the question would have been so bloody long you would have all been asleep by the time you had read it. So I placed the word "referred" to rather than "named after". Re Gretna, I didn't know that. You learn something new every day.
