Diouf had a real stinker of a game, Wilson was the worst  out there and totally anonymous.  The one thimg he is famed for, poaching a goal and/ or taking a chance, he completely failed at skying one and being too old and slow in his reaction to the one great cross we put in.  All other players gave lots of effort and commitment but special mentions for Hermansen, Summerville, Todibo and even AWB who made some good headers to clear and generally a lot better than against Pool and more recent games.  Oh and Magassa was definitely a positive influence coming on in central midfield.

Massive can agree with games before and that Taty didn't put him through when Wilson wanted the ball and probably would have given back for Taty to shoot.
Don't think he put in the effort last night, doesn't lokk fit,he was 2nd worse to AWB. Can't beleive Nuno kept him on with his performance and stupid yellow.

The long ball tactic, hit it long, press their keeper and back line and pressure them into a mistake, worked one crucial time, when we scored. Not pretty to watch and we stopped doing it at the right time.

People need to think about the shape and balance of the Team and attacking threat we have when he plays.  Out of all the 7 wins in the League now with him starting 4 of them we have won. Fulham,  Newcastle, Burnley twice, as well as score in important wins at Spurs and Forest when brought on as well as scoring twice at Bournemouth in a draw before stupidly being subbed on a Hat-Trick. He's more important to the Team than some give him credit for and without his contributions to the Team up front we wouldn't still be in this fight for survival.

The fear I had that Wilson wasn't really up for this showed. He and Taty were on different planets.

Taty failed to release Wilson at times when in great positions to be played in which you could see the frustration on him. Wilsons positioning as usual is decent as a natural No.9 getting in the right positions which kept Fulhams defence honest and constantly concerned about him. He also came deep at times to link up play which went unnoticed. I would say he weren't quite at it to capitalise on scoring having got into good goalscoring positions, in particular when he was caught in two minds to go with either his head or foot near the back stick, on another day he bangs them in. But for me I'm encouraged that he continues to get in the positions to score than not because eventually he will score.

Straight after Half Time it felt only a matter of time before we would when as a Team we kept knocking on the door.  After an hour it made sense to take Wilson off and bring on another fresh legs in midfield and it worked well to get the much needed win and clean sheet we got. Some can scapegoat him all they like but the gameplan and selections worked just as Hermansen proved in goal when some wanted the hapless Areola back in goal.

The ball hit the sleeve off the players arm so that's not handball from what I understand of the law which is why I can see why they didn't give it.

Finally a sensible comment regarding the penalty that never was. I made this exact same point on this thread during the match last night.

I thought that during the game. Surely the cսnt can have a look at the monitor, and then sit down and shut the fuck up.

BoleynGone wrote: 05 Mar 2026, 08:54 Nuno got most things right  Replacing Wilson was his best choice. The fear I had that Wilson wasn't really up for this showed. He and Taty were on different planets. If Nuno told the defence to stop hitting it long in the 2nd half it worked. The ball kept coming back from long balls especially Diuof and Disasi. Tighter at the back in the 2nd half, with the Hermie making outstanding saves. he did try and be to clever at the end there...phew...
Bowen worked his socks off and deserved the assist. Summerville is so lethal in those situations, confidence is key for him. Taty and Wilson quite poor upfront. Fernandes solid but needs to stop these early bookings,Soucek solid broke up play well. Todibo and Dissai strong and determined especially 2nd half.
AWB poor and got lucky a few times.
Fans were so vocal, great to hear.

Forest got a good point, their performances of late earned that. I think they now have momentum and will pull away. Leeds and Spurs will be sucked in by both us and Forest creating a more nervy end to the season for both.
Spurs will be so edgy atm.
We nned to get something out of City game now.

Watched on the box last night, before the game I said I would settle for a scrappy 1-0 win and that is exactly what it was. I also predicted that the ref would be poor because he was inexperienced.

But it doesn't explain just how bad VAR was; there was a deliberate move towards the ball for the handball and at least part of the ball hit below the T-shirt line. The decision on the Fernades' free kick should have been reversed, as he was clearly kicked when he placed his foot between the play and the ball without making any contact with the player. But I suppose we got away with a weak foul on Hermansen rather than a penalty for them, and VAR got the Tatty call correct. It just shows that VAR is just as variable and inconsistent as the Refs on field alone use to be - win some lose some.

Question: Why is it that when I go to games, I don't really get nervous, but when I watch on tv it gets me pacing the room?

Still not convinced we will avoid the drop but I see the bookies no longer have us at odds on.

Tight, nervy game which we deserved to win overall.

Clear penalty for handball  missed by VAR which I'm sure they realised at half time.

Solid unspectacular stuff from ours.

Yea I had to read that twice.

They are at home to Fulham next week, that is huge for them. Hopefully Fulham are still upset at the defeat last night when they rock up to the Trent.
