Agreed to a point. Where (I think Allardyce?) they had a point is the element of pressure in front of a crowd in a meaningful competitive setting that cannot be replicated. But what can be practiced over and over is the muscle memory of the rehearsed penalties where players are familiar with what to do, rather than just more on a whim in the moment which is what Ouattaras ridiculous Panenka gave the impression of. The only Penalty that was failed to be scored. We looked drilled and confident on every one taken whether they'd actually be scored would be another matter but they thankfully managed it.

Thought it was a really good performance. The changes worked, as KWP, Pablo and particularly Kante were excellent. Thought we deserved to win it in 90 mins.

Special mention to Kante, who looked really good in the middle. Has the same gate and style as Mo Diame, but looks like he might be more technical. Our CM options next season could be phenomenal and most of them under 23?

We didnt look like a team that was 18th, there is a real togetherness about them now it seems. Disasi was immense again, he has to be  apriority in the summer, also loved the changing room celebrations he is bang in the middle of it all.  Pablo impressed me, his workrate and hold up play was very good.  Didnt think we looked as good when Taty came on which surprised me,  both strikers though still seem to lack that goal threat in and around the box. They dont get enough shots off or get into shooting areas enough.

Scarles really struggled, Dango turned him inside out that first half, Mayers yes is clearly ahead of him now.....he may need a loan next season.   The other weston of a performance was Magassa, what was he doing when he came on.... I haven't seen a sub appearance that bad in a very long time.

Got to pray Jimmy is fit for the weekend, there is no replacement down that left hand side. Traore is terrible.

Finally the pens, all 5 of them top drawer. Mavro take a bow son!

Hopefully any knocks or injuries picked up are minimal.
Positives are obviously the continued run of form and the belief that brings, but also Bowen finding form and Pablo getting some minutes back after injury.

Mayers is surely picked ahead of Scarles now.

Magassa did have a mare when he came on. Might have used Potts instead or sub the sub at some point.
Kante had far and away his best game. Think he is only 20 and will be a big boy when he grows up
Only disappointment was Disasi’s last min shot didn’t go in to win it

The Brentford manager reckons anyone mocking the silly Panenka cսnt is ‘disgusting’

Was going to mention Brentford’s sole attacking method … the LONG THROW
Abysmal football which never gets called out
Bournemouth were the same
The sooner this pair of two bit pub teams return to the EFL to be replaced by proper football clubs the better

Magassa has looked good in some previous games, so prepared to give him some time. Kante was poor against Burton Albion, but was good last night by all accounts.

I fancy us at against Leeds, up there under the lights (obviously it will be an evening game) would have been totally different, but at home I think we will take them. Also believe Farke isn't a great one for cups and will be going all in for PL survival.

I can see the twin towers from here.

Just read the BBC's match report (couldn't find ANYTHING about the game on their main sports page before the game yesterday).

They came across as really depressed that we'd actually won. Seemed like the author of the article didn't even want to watch the game, let alone be there to produce a page on it for his employer.

Had it been one of their darlings pulling that off, they'd be gushing with dynamic adjectives, praising every player to the hilt and looking to slip in a reference or two to Manchester United.

They saved their highest praise for "Kelleher's outstanding one-handed save to keep out substitute Callum Wilson"...oh, and someone called West Ham were playing a team dreaming of Europe next year.

Only saw the highlights since all our games kick off at 8pm these days. A great win and a kind draw (not man city or liverpool) I thought their pen looked very soft.

I do hope we stay up as we seem to really be on to something here, after years without any real 'heroes' we seem to be developing a few now, Mavropanos is a fucking god. Disasi a fucking trojan. Nuno looking like our best coach for a long time.

Bring on the City cunts!
