US Politics Thread
Seems like the main politics thread is becoming a Yankee-Doodle Trump-fest, so maybe scope here to split them out.
Will see if this one gains any traction ..if it does will move over a few of the million posts from our two protagonists from the other thread.
Yee-haaa!

Re: US Politics Thread
I see Trump has just called NATO cowards again for not putting their personnel in harm's way to support his war, despite saying the war is won and it would be 'easy' to open up the Strait.
If it was easy, then surely he and Israel could do it themselves, and wouldn't need any help. The very fact he's asking multiple times suggests not.

Strategically and diplomatically lying. The CIA/Pentagon would have run that passed him as part of their calculations it would likely happen. We saw it on a much lower scale straight after Midnight Hammer happened by fucking up Irans Nuclear weapons ambition.

Re: US Politics Thread
This is for MA, Now way any any Gulf states join Israel to attack other Muslims states, I think that is the US and Israel's strategy to turn the Sunni Gulf states against Iran. The Abraham accord 2020 was going to normalise diplomatic, economic and security relations between Israel, GCC and US but then the Hamas attack in 2023 and the Israeli response scuppered that

A dirty bomb set off on a strategic place would be just as effective.
Imagine Wall Street/The Pentagon/The White house being rendered uninhabitable for 100 years.
With the right contacts/connections such a bomb could probably be built clandestinely within the US, using US sourced components.

The same Gulf states who begged Trump not to start this war and have been begging him to de-escalate?
His little foray into the ME has completely ruined their enery business and tourism economy. It was a safe place for westerners to go work/live but not anymore.
The other day Trump said 'nobody could have guessed' that Iran would attack other Gulf countries. He is either lying or stupid.

Re: US Politics Thread
The solution to resolving the Strait may even come from serious pressure from the other nearby Gulf states Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE because Iran continues to attack them indiscriminately. Sooner or later they won't tolerate just batting away their missile/drone attacks and will come down like a ton of bricks themselves especially as this conflict had nothing to do with them. Watch this space on that aspect possibly materialising. Iran certainly aint winning over hearts and minds for allies in the Region by their acts of aggression against them without any justification.

Doc, you don't just walk into a store and ask for plutonium. Did you rip this off?
Of course, from a group of Libyan Nationalists. They wanted me to build them a bomb, so I took their plutonium and in turn gave them a shoddy bomb casing full of used pinball machine parts

If they turned on the French Coppers Stravas during their English Crossing patrol shifts, they'll all be stationary on the spot about 3 miles in land at a local Cafe/Doughnut shop every day.

Re: US Politics Thread
I'm generally in support of people like Trump. Not because he's a decent person, I feel that he's a despicable example of humanity, but because he's a disruptor.
The world needs disruptions to progress.
People like him give the global cage of static stability a firm kick in the bollocks, knocking it every which way causing many to lose their comfort blankets and fall from their perches of perceived success.
This time around though, I suspect he may just have kicked it's bollocks clean off. I can't work out - yet - who gains and who loses (apart from the US armaments industry owners and the US taxpayers respectively).
Disrupting the availability of fossil fuel - or at least highlighting the pinch-points in the supply chain may force those in the business to have a strategic rethink; may even cause users to modify their lifestyles....nah! FUCK OFF!!! We're entitled to those lifestyles, we've earned the right to enjoy them.
It might force Iran - not even an Arab nation - to butt the fuck out of the Middle East and let it's brotherly and sisterly Muslim Arab neighbours simply get on with being safe, independent nations.
I just hope that Trump doesn't open a history book and conclude that the best way to end a war soonly is to drop a couple of nukes on your enemy.
Well, it worked last time, did it not?

Re: US Politics Thread
most of us oldies were brought up by people who were affected by WW2, we were told that war was a bad thing to live through. We passed that on to the next generations and we have become passive, scared to talk about problems without being labeled as some nutjob, right/left wing racist, paedo, woke, loony... the youth of today don't know suffering. We've ensured for the most that everything is to be handed to them on a cottonwool plate... I see serious mental-health problems moving forward for our young with life's pressures, not too sure as a nation we're ready for difficult times ahead.
Like you said, let's hope it doesn't come to the extremities.
