Seems like the main politics thread is becoming a Yankee-Doodle Trump-fest, so maybe scope here to split them out.

Now that he has smashed their military capabilities to bits he is giving them a chance to give up on their nuclear ambitions now from a position of weakness or face the consequences of what comes next. Which is certain death and misery.

Definitely blagging it and for good reason. It's clever how the Commanders dealing with all this occasionally lean on Trump's social media presence so people can believe oh it's just that buffoon talking, but when I read between the lines of some of his posts, it reads like a tactical post to bluff the markets/public/enemy. They'll likely suggest to Trump to put up shit about the talks in his unmistakable style then it should calm the markets and bide US some time. Even when you listen to him outside Air Force One you can see him being mindful about what he says so to get the right message across. No Tacos for Trump anytime soon.. 🍽

There's a whisper in the wind that the real reason Starmer was scared to get involved is because the government know for an absolute certainty north of a thousand Iranian "assests" have entered the country by dinghy in the last 18 months or so. Nearly all are "whereabouts unknown".

The Strait is still controlled by Iran and they are still firing rockets & drones at neighbouring countries so I don’t think they bought his bluff.

It’s the price of the futures contracts that matter. The longer term impact of this is already priced in (to an extent).

Or do you think they will be planning for the arrival of these troops?

It's blatantly just a playof calming the markets regarding Hormuz/oil with both sides posturing before going at it hammer and tong again. Bide a bit of time before the marines rock up to go in targetted attacks. 

It all goes back to when I say Trump often strategically says things in the Media that isn't just off the cuff and will be reason behind it. Sure, it's always said in his typical bombastic style (which I like a lot of the time) but it ain't just because he's erratic and careless saying things on a whim. Give him a bit of credit..
