Not starting a book club. Just bringing everyone's attention to the new book section. Link at the top of page.

I have put a few books up there already, happy to add any suggestions people have. There is a review section for each book where you can say how shit each one is. They all link through to Amazon where you can purchase any of the books with WHO earning a commission from the sales. I have put Alex's book up there already and anything WHO earns from that book I will push into the WHO fund.

I don't think we have a thread on books, so this thread can double up as a what-yer-reading now thread, West Ham related or not. I am currently reading Jonathan Rose, The intellectual Life of the British Working Classes. Delved straight into chapter 9, Alienation from Marxism. Fascinating insight into what inoculated us from communism: communists themselves apparently. 

Anyway, enjoy the books and hopefully you find something interesting among them and have some good suggestions on what to add.

I've just finished reading Tony Gales autobiography That's Entertainment  and  have also been listening to the audio of An irrational hatred of Luton which I enjoyed immensely the first time around some thirty years back.

Irrirational  hatred of Luton is Banks ...a raving lefty wanker  but has a catalogue of rather impressive YouTube videos of all  fings WHU 

He blocked and deleted me on facebook, several years ago, because I was much too right wing for him. For those who are aware of my posting on here, that's quite some opinion to come to!

The Sacred history Johnathon Black how ancient myths worked there way into nowadays religion

An auto biography of Vassily Grossman he was a war correspondent for the USSR when they were fighting the Nazis

All a bit on the grim side there 67 ..you need to balance it out pal

There are very few non fiction history books that are no about war or the results of it. Human endeavour interests me. Johnathon Black The sacred history of the earth if you want a mindfulness book read that

Wils just to say again that West Ham The Managers by Tony McDonald is on a par with the Tim Crane books. If I remember rightly it goes up to Curbs tenure but it is a classic read. Makes you realise how we have gone  through Managers in the last ten years or so.

Yep. I Remember Macari's appointment when he was only the 6th? Just seemed to be a churn since then.

I have never been a Macari basher , even though he took over from my favourite WHU manager.
he stood zero chance from the off with certain players and  the fans with the raving hump already  following relegation ..ex manc didn't help either
But he signed  some seriously good players ...some of whom went on to be modern day club legends.

I've had loads of girlfriends, Swiss, and every single one of them looked better than that woman. I've definitely shagged worse, though, I'll give you that.

She's a sort ...taff/jock/paddy look.

reading actual books should be encouraged now.
more than ever.

They round you out.if you read a broad church.

My cherished book is a rather now  sad and browned paged original paperback John Lyall autobiography ... just like my dreams .
the older I get the more I love that man

World War Z is a fictional account of a World wide Zombie apocalypse. Written by Max Brookes ( Mel Brookes’ son) it is based upon a set of oral accounts of WW2 where survivors tell their stories.

obviously not for everybody but I thank the poster who recommended it as its a classic.

Have always enjoyed books - especially the ones with pictures to colour in and painting by numbers. Got through loads flipping across the planet for over 20 years going to/from contract assignments.

Now I'm retired, I expected to spend weeks & weeks just sat here, listening to music, drinking tea (or, depending on the time of day) something stronger.

The music and supping goes om apace, but finding time to read?

Well! 2 years ago, a friend lent me 2 books: one, Murray Walker's autobiography, the other "Another City, Not My Own" by Dominick Dunn.

My cleaner has picked them up [to dust the bookshelf] more often that have I.

Great idea I read a lot of autobiographies and sporting books. Also highly recommend they Played For John Lyall an outstanding read. There is also the Billy Bonds and Bobby Moore versions as well. West Ham - The Managers is also a great book albeit a few years old now. Both John Lyall and Ron Greenwoods autobiographies are also a terrific read.

On the entertainment front all books by Roger Moore and Michael Caine are highly enjoyable with some great Hollywood stories. At the moment I am reading Parkys People which is 100 interviews from the Parkinson Show and it's a super book. Stumbled across it after I read his autobiography.
