This is fucking madness
Thought i would post as a few expats on here, expect in the same boat as me!
The UK Government is introducing rules saying anyone Born in the UK who now lives overseas and has taken dual citizenship and passport of that country, can ONLY travel to the UK if they have a British passport!Â
British and Irish dual citizens bear costly brunt of UK passport changes - ABC News
My UK passport expired in 2009 and as i had an Australian passport as well couldn't see the point in paying for 2, living this side of the world the Australian makes things easier, going to NZ and other regional countries visa free etc, but now if i want to come to the UK i need get a British passport again but as it expired so long ago the steps i need to take are fucking insane.
Be easier to go to France and get a Dinghy across the channel, may even get free hotel accommodation as wellÂ

I'm not sure if too many on here are dual citizens i.e a national of where they are living. I'm certainly not half Thai!
So Australians can no longer enter the UK on their passport? Need a visa?
Oh, and my Australian passport shows my country of birth, so not like i can just rock up at Heathrow, it clearly says it next to my mug shot.
Well I didn't know that did I so guess that answers my question. I didn't read what proceeded that as ZERO interest.

Its only commonwealth countries, as they have dual citizenship agreements with the UK, so i guess mainly Aus, NZ and Canada and if you do emigrate to these countries it's a big advantage to take citizenship, gives you more rights, access to government funded schemes etc and your able to vote, get passport etc.
Crazy thing is that had i been born in Australia to UK parents i could of got UK citizenship and passport, and this new rule wouldn't apply to me and i could go in and out of the UK as i pleased using an Australian passport, it's only for those born in the UK this applies to.
I would quite happily renounce my UK citizenship, got no intention to even live there again, don't mean that as a slur on the UK BTW, just the realities of life, but apparently i cant, Want to see family in the UK and my mum who is on her last legs then as i was born in the UK, i need a UK passport to enter.
Bureaucratic nonsense and red tape bollocks.Â

Oh, and Gank, do fuck of you retarded fuckwitÂ

They can if they didn't allow their passport to expire like this prat.
For all the people who say on here that immigrants can learn to live like us or just bugger off back where they came from, I'm surprised to see a thread saying people who turned their back on the country and didn't even bother renewing their home passport should be allowed to saunter back in on an expired one. Nah, you made your bed, then pissed in it, now lay in the filth.
I'm just wondering if old Sydders attempted to enter the UK on his Aus passport if the system is clever enough to see that he is also a UK citizen and reject entry? I assume it must be or why even implement this.
