Without WHO I would never have fucked my old boots, given my head a wobble or had a shit like slippers falling out of a loft. Anyone who keeps it going therefore has my gratitude.

Re: Goodison - goodbye to the grand old lady
Went up there when we got a 2-2 draw towards the end of 2009/10 season (Zola). Though they put away fans in the corner, the stand with it's upper tier meant that you could generate a huge amount of noise. Non stop chant of Claret and Blue Army all the way through the second half. Some Everton fans a...

As mentioned briefly on the itk thread. Thought it deserved it's own thread. Somewhere for folks to heap praise or vent their spleen on four departing hammers. Anyone you'd keep?

Seven nights in a tin shack on the Norfolk Broads, taking my rowing boat. Peace at last (unless it rains).

Re: West Ham v Leicester – Instant Reaction: Positives & Negatives
I wouldn't want to write off Ferguson just yet but he did himself no favours tonight. Although Cresswell looked steady he did give the ball away cheaply twice early on. Good to see us win against a side who came here to defend. Grateful for the two goals, one due to pressure, the second a little for...

Turn up in your car at the gate outside the stadium. Say you're a guest in the Vauxhall Motors box, say you've never been to a soccer match before and hope they take pity on you. It worked for me.

Re: Graham Potter
Brighton under Potter became a bit of a bogey team for us iirc and part of the reason was they were much more physical. I wonder if we'll see a change in this direction and which, if any, players will not be up for it.

It was a few years back, my first visit to WHL (2008). We lost 4-0 iirc. Luis Boa Morte got sent off. Had a couple of happier visits since.

My brother's mate Tim. Got me into the Irish Club near their ground for a beer before the match. Had to walk miles to get round the cordon they had formed outside the ground with police vans. Thought I'd never get out.

Re: Farmers don’t want to pay tax
That's where I disagree with you, goose. It's only an opinion but based on what I've seen, the other farmers locally snap up land which becomes available not only from what you might think of as neighbouring farms (adjacent) but also land twenty miles away or more. Often they already have the machin...

Re: Farmers don’t want to pay tax
I agree with you about those using land as a tax loophole but I'm not sure how you get from farmers having to sell land to pay inheritance tax, to it being removed from the food chain. I am not, as you can probably guess, a farmer nor do I own acres of land but I have some small experience of agricu...

Re: Farmers don’t want to pay tax
If you do not own a farm and you inherit property, you have to pay tax on it, subject to certain thresholds which iirc start at about £325k. For most people who inherit above £325k I would guess this comes in the form of a property which they sell in order to be able to use the money how they wish t...

Re: Remembrance Day 2024
I was at Tamworth today and they announced a minute or two before the match that the last post would be played. They finished playing some cheerful pop music and as the teams were led out by representatives of the British Legion and the RAF there was the usual clapping and cheering of the teams. The...
