Re: What if anything are you listening to now?
I was a big fan before the commercial success, it's a shame the brothers moved on when they did. I know mark's brother, and the others have done a great job but it was hard to find a tighter band than that original four This incarnation has now been together a while now and is definitely as tight a...

Re: Why have so many posters left this site?
Maybe it’s an age thing, but I’m quite happy scrolling away with my thumb ignoring half the bollocks posted by a few I can think of to focus on posts by people who I do like reading from. As I get older, my intolerance for stupidity grows year on year. My desire now is to reduce the number of tim...

Re: Why have so many posters left this site?
I don’t get this foe bollocks. We’re adults. If you can’t take stick from a faceless avatar, you have to be an absolute jellyfish in real life. You do appear to have misunderstood it. It's not about avoiding stick or any nonsense like that. I don't bicker with anyone. It's about mass blocking c...

Re: Why have so many posters left this site?
There are plenty of forums where you can have good and lively discussions without the pub bore shouting over everyone. This site most definitely isn't one. Want to increase traffic? Remove the elephant in the room and make it an attractive place. I have found that the new 'foe' function is very ha...

Re: Ace Frehley may have played his last lick
Somebody sent me this today. Ace Frehley having a whale of a time at a Kiss interview. This is a great example of why it's usually a bad idea to interview an entire band at the same time. Even if they aren't clearly singing off different hymn sheets, band in-jokes and banter often take over to th...

Re: For WHO's birders
We have a pair of magpies that are regular visitors to our garden. I don't know if there has been some altercation that we haven't witnessed, but they strut about on the grass and the dog a Springer) just sits quietly feet away and watches them. This is unbelievably rare as she will normally chase ...

Re: Ace Frehley may have played his last lick
Always sad to see yet another one gone. Although they never really meant much over here, I always admired the business-focussed creation of Kiss as the perfect band for a certain generation of Americans. The ideal blend of comic-book image and aura, and simple shout-along songs. A massive number of...
Re: The Who
nothing against them performing again, despite his voice being gone long ago but bands like the cure manage/ensure to cap prices to make it affordable for fans so there's no excuse for these piss taking amounts *though, I see even the cure now wanting over 110 for the cheapest tickets available nex...

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
I often do something similar to 'Cover to Cover' in class, the students complete the missing lyrics and then write which version they prefer. Post Modern Jukebox, a group with assorted guest singers, do covers in different music styles and have some interesting stuff. Nice idea, although depending ...
Re: The Who
each to their own, and like the oasis bandwagon/ticket fiasco, I'm not telling people how to spend their money but the prices I've heard being asked for rush tickets is sickening. some reports of close to half a grand for a view from the gods. would love to have finally seen one of my musical heroe...
Re: The Who
The Who were a great band and had a truly great songwriter, Townshend, and singer, Daltrey. But their whole sound was defined by their utterly inimitable rhythm section. Losing Moon was bad enough, but when the Ox died they really should have packed it in. Mind you, if people want to spend a fortun...

Re: Why have so many posters left this site?
This place is like an online pub and you engage in conversation with those you’re interested in exchanging opinions, ideas, thoughts with etc. But WHO has always had wankers, just like the annoying cսnt who talks bollocks and ponces pints in every pub. This is true, as long as there are at least a...

Re: Why have so many posters left this site?
For me the question is 'why do I still come here?' I can only assume it's because of a very long standing habit, long after my interest in the main topic has waned massively. Still happy if West Ham do well, but I have no interest in dissecting anything either during or after the 90 mins has finishe...

Re: Dislodged.
I still remember visits to Threshold Records in Cobham which was owned by the Moody Blues. My elder sister would excitedly point out members of the band when one was in there. I was completely oblivious at the age of about 11. I do remember Justin Hayward turning up one day when he pulled up in prob...

Re: Bands you think of as 'One person plus anybody'
I couldn’t name any of the other members of Coldplay. In fact, I wouldn’t even recognise them if I saw them in the street. I always thought being one of the other three in Coldplay would have been pretty much the perfect gig. All the financial benefits of being in a huge band, without the drawbacks...

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
Paul Young is good for a few covers. im going to get pelters for this but on No Parlez he covered Love Will Tear Us Apart and its a cracker. I saw him at Wembley Arena (not performing) earlier this year. He was walking very stiffly with a walking stick after an accident in 2024. Hopefully h...

Re: Bands you think of as 'One person plus anybody'
Clearly loads of people just see/hear the singer of the band and don't notice the band members. There's even people on here naming solo artists for fuck's sake. Probably not many bands where the general public don't think of them as being the singer plus anybody. An interesting complimentary thre...
Re: The Who
By coincidence, I was (half) listening to a segment of Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio show and he was talking about The Who. Apparently they did a "Farewell Tour" back just before Who's Next...and then a tour every few years after that. So, bye, then. I still remember Status Quo's 'End Of T...

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
I was at an fairly small Bon Jovi show at the Astoria in the early 90s. They opened with what was a truly remarkable cover of With A Little Help From My Friends. Like them or not it was a magnificent display of sheer pro musicianship. The backing vocals alone were vast in their scale and precision....

Re: Bands you think of as 'One person plus anybody'
Neil Young from Crazy Horse That's a curious one. As far as I know Crazy Horse the band existed as a separate entity and Neil Young happened to do a lot of work with them. Not sure whether he was really a member or whether it was just a very long running collaboration? I don't think they were ever ...
