Re: What if anything are you listening to now?

Was made aware of this recently. Listened to it. I think it's horrible. Lost all restraint and subtlety that that original had. A cover version that in my opinion is nowhere near as good as the original. Shame because I'm sure they could have done better but I'm sure this is what their fanbase likes...

Re: King Billy

Really sad to hear this. Billy was in the team at my very first match in 1978 along with Sir Trevor, Curbs, Frank Sr, Pike, Cross, Hales etc.

The word legend is used far too frquently these days but he was one, football royalty.

RIP Billy Bonds

Interesting. This is one of those earlier songs that I just don't connect with at all.

Tell me, do you enjoy this 100% sober or does being in some other state help? I know when I've seen them live, many around me seem to be slightly 'elsewhere'?😁

Re: Bands whose first album was quite different from subsequent material

Also TOOL. Their first 'album' (or is it an EP?) Opiate is a world away from Undertow in my opinion. Tool are one of the very few bands I like, where I like each release more than what has come before. Fear Inoculum is without question my favourite Tool album with 10,000 days second. I can only hop...

Re: Bands whose first album was quite different from subsequent material

I can think of of a few:- Rush       The change of drummer had more impact on Rush than almost any member change in any band. The first album was clearly a band still finding their feet and really wanting to be Zeppelin. Peart arrived and the change of direction was immediate and apparent. Still ha...

Re: 2020 Movies (now including 2021 - 2025)

Definitely not new, but I stumbled across Movie 43 recently.

Without question worth checking out if only for the sequence with Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet and an unusual neck growth!

Fantastic scene and worth it for Pitt's 'Aree-ver-derchee' alone.😁

Re: Could someone please explain......

I must admit I was impressed with the "my skin doctor app", where you send a photo of your skin issue and I assume a dermatologist checks it and either gives you a diagnosis or calls you in.  They diagnosed a dermatofibroma on my leg via that, which was a bit nervy as I thought how can th...

Re: Could someone please explain......

Pharmacies are increasingly taking on more of the GP surgeries roles and can in some cases prescribe and dispense drugs for certain conditions. AI is also now playing a part in diagnosis of certain conditions which can be dangerous according to a dermatologist I was talking to a few months ago. The...

Absolutely.  What's quite baffling is when you do manage to get a face to face appt there is hardly anyone sitting in the waiting room.  As said before our surgery now seems to have moved to an online triage service.  They have had phone appointments for a while now, certainly since Covid, which ar...

Re: Could someone please explain......

It seems people seeking treatment have to practically diagnose themselves via the online booking platform and will completely miss signs which a doctor can see but the patient might not.     This is massive problem with 111 too which has a LONG way to go before it is remotely close to being fit for...

Even when you finally get there it can be a while.  I have been fortunate on a couple of occasions to have seen a pretty on the ball GP who sent me on a two week urgent pathway and quickly had the relevant tests, which thankfully came back negative.  My sister on the other hand had two odd years vi...

Re: Could someone please explain......

I must say the packaging of paracetamol especially seems to ward off the possibility of taking too many as well.  Maybe I got dodgy packs but it isn't easy breaking them through the wrapper and when you finally do get there the whole saga breaks them into two!  If you have arthritic fingers forget ...

Probably the last chance to see the last standing version of The Sweet (Andy Scott’s) out there now, unfortunately without Bruce on drums who has packed it in due to age and girth.

He was worth the price of a ticket alone.😁

CUNTS!
This is very strange.

Surely in today’s world of close surveillance, there must be some trace of the vehicles that carried out the huge number of individual ‘dumps’ that must have taken place to cause this?

On a similar note, I understand that those who wish to have been able to take organised and heavily armed boat trips off Somalia in order to shoot pirates when their boat is attacked.

Wouldn’t do it myself but I do sort of get this one…

Some have made the (valid) point that sitting down to piss when pissed is a good idea. This is mostly true unless you have not made absolutely sure that your knob is pointing downwards. If you get this wrong even once, and piss over the front lip of the bog and into your pants and jeans, you will n...

By the way, the antibiotics thing is easily explained. Since their introduction, antibiotics have been badly overused. This has led to reduced efficacy when they are REALLY needed. If they were available over the counter, huge numbers of people would buy and use them when they didn’t need them, dest...

I believe that is why they stopped selling paracetamol in bottles.  Theory was that someone might pour out a handful and neck them but if they have to pop them out one at a time they think more about what they are doing.     Yup. Of course the well motivated individual will find a way around all th...

A major reason is that both paracetamol and ibuprofen quickly turn into fairly dangerous and then lethal drugs if taken in quantities that could easily be assembled if there were no limits to what you can buy in one go. The theory goes that many spontaneous suicide attempts will happen using tablets...

Cannabis psychosis, as usual. They will say he is schizophrenic, but he will also have been smoking cannabis. It has surprised me, but a couple of my youngest son's friends (early 20s), who have been pretty heavy cannabis users since their teens, appear to be quite seriously mentally damaged now. A...

I think it's been about 6 years since Fear Inoculum already! Yes mate, August 2019. Still, it was 13 years between 10,000 Days and Fear Incoculum, so I live in hope that they'll release something new before I retire (in 2033) 🤣 I'll be happy if they release something new before I die!😁
