Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

Armed with a gun is an interesting statement and there is footage of this bloke with a gun on his person stuck in his waistband in the middle of his back. He must have been familiar to the ICE people too and they must have known that he carried a piece thus they were aware of his lethal potential. T...

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread

Since Christmas we have conceded another ten goals in six league games thus our deplorable defending more or less continues. And judging by this window continues unaddressed.

We remain the third most likely team to go down.

How costly might that home defeat to Forest turn out to be?

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

It’s quite sad, as an onlooker, to see military occupation of some American cities and the accompanying slide into a facist like authoritarianism. Quite something too to hear people being spun a narrative that is counter to what they have seen.

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

It’s no surprise that people want change when our present government took power with a mandate from a minority of the electorate. If we change government though because of the FPP system we will still be governed by a party that most of us will have voted against. Unless or until we adopt a system a...

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

With the drift of MPs from the conservatives to Reform we can see that many of those individuals were from the nasty wing of their party. In essence these leavers are helping sanitise Badenoch’s Tory remainers whilst at the same time ensuring that Reform retains its basic nastiness level. There is n...

Re: West Ham vs Sunderland | PL | 24.1.26 | Predictions and Match Thread

Off to the game where a win for us is essential but unlikely against a team that’s  lost one game of its last six. We have actually score one more league goals than Sunderland but their defence has conceded almost half the amount that ours has so far.  All this banging on about strikers and attackin...

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

Sixty years ago I read Joseph Heller’s Catch 22. As a satire on WW2 it was excellent entertainment. What brought back this memory was seeing a clip of Jared Kushner, with pictures of a rubble strewn Gaza overlaid with high rise condos, talking about the benefits peace would bring to the region. What...

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)

It is worth reading PM Carney’s speech at the WEF at Davos. The contrast between his and Trump’s rambling, self centred and often incorrect bawblings of yesterday is stark. Carney’s perception and conclusion about Trump’s stewardship of the USA is corruscating. He made points about the world as it i...

For me the black font days were, now I look back, the best of times on WHO.

It was at once anarchic, humerous and not at all boringly repetitive like many of today’s post sadly demonstrate.

Oh and most black fonters were people with signed in personas.

Notagooner, just in case it has escaped your attention Chamberlain took us into WW2.

As for bringing in the politics of today I make no apologies for that because whatever went on in the past has a lesson for the now and the future.

Re: World War II Question

Zico, another thing to speculate on is what, if the likes of Farage had fronted a Reform government in 1939? I think he would have cosied up to Hitler and we would not have gone to war. The USA would have been happy to simply bully Japan and all of the world would have sat and watched Germany and Ru...

Re: Winter '25/26 Transfer Rumours Thread

”It is goals that will keep you up”

So we have scored more this season in the league than Sunderland, Palace and Forest and are level on goals scored with Everton. It must baffle some people as to why we languish below those teams mentioned.

I know why and so too do most of us.

Re: World War II Question

The USA had no reason to declare war on Germany in 1939. Furthermore there was no appetite in the USA for a global conflict at that time.

It would not surprise me to find out that Trump considers the Moon belongs to the USA on the basis that USA citizens were the first, and only, humans to set foot there.

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread

The virtual acceptance of relegation has been disturbed by this reducing of two points on our deficit with Forest.

Now we have the stress of dealing with a scintilla of hope until the next league game.

So it turns out that JWP is a baldist.

Baldism is not that prevalent but if this JWP news spreads it might deeply, emotionally effect those amongst us who are folliclely challenged.

Re: VAR

The position of Haaland was quite clearly not obscuring anyone’s view so I can only conclude that he was deemed to be committing a foul by blocking the keeper and defender. And that decision should hold good regardless of whether or not Haaland was in an offside position or Newcastle had a defender ...

Re: VAR

It matters not what the criteria for offside are deemed to be because it is the delay in making a decision that causes the problem. So how about, when the var shows it is too close to call, giving the benefit of doubt to the attacker. And where the concern is whether or not an attacker is interferin...
