"Don't mention Nipah, unless you want to get Marriana Northbank involved. Port fascinates and terrifies me in equal measure; its delicious but very easy to drink like wine (big mistake). I try to only drink it when on holiday or in a restaurant, because the temptation to have a few glasses is irresistable, and it hurts like mad the next day."

"""Chilled white port is one of the most under-rated after dinner drinkies, with a decent cheese and a few olives."" Something I agree with rios on. I feel slightly ill, and I don't think it's Nipah, although I have just eaten chorizo, PORK chorizo"

You’d like Porto if you’re still OK with York. It’s dark and sort of brooding.

"Very hilly. Most of thePort wineries are down on the river. All good for a tasting sesh. Down at Matosinhos there is a nice beach and some superb fish and seafood restaurants. Some cheap but good and some up market. Love it down there. Very hipster. Otherwise, take time to walk around and take in the place."
