Sporting Witness West Ham officials already asking questions about making signing – Interest is building West Ham United have expressed interest in Sporting Club de Portugal defender Ousmane Diomande, having watched him recently play for his country. That’s according to Record, who say interest is building in the 19-year-old defender and West Ham are one of those who are keen. The newspaper explains that Sporting are sure Diomande will be a major sale from the club at some point soon after impressing since his arrival from Midtjylland in the January transfer window. They’ve already turned down a bid from Arsenal for him but they’re not the only suitors and West Ham’s scouts were recently asking questions about him at the end of the Ivory Coast’s clash with Lesotho. At the moment the Portuguese side are not interested in a sale, and neither is the player, who is enjoying the rise he is having at Sporting and is in no rush to change. They too, are in no rush to sell him and are actually planning to offer him a new and improved deal to add a year to his current contract, which runs until 2027. The hope is to further cement him at the club and the €80m release clause in his contract, which they don’t intend to change but see as a starting point for any future negotiations. That’s where West Ham will need to go if they want him, then, which they’re seemingly yet to do as their interest is just at the asking questions stage. It is, though, there, nonetheless. Sport Bible Jesse Lingard ‘to train with Saudi Pro League club for a month’ after West Ham spell Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is reportedly set to train with a Saudi Professional League side after his latest spell with West Ham United. Lingard is currently a free agent after he left Premier League club Nottingham Forest upon the expiration of his one-year deal at the City Ground. Since then, he has spent time training with his former club, West Ham, as he continues his search for a new club. According to the Daily Mail, Lingard’s performances in training have impressed Hammers boss David Moyes, who refused to rule out a move for the Englishman. However, Moyes wanted to be assured about his commitment before making a final decision on the 30-year-old. Now, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Lingard is set to train with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq for a month. Romano wrote on social media: “Jesse Lingard has joined Al Ettifaq on training valid for one month — as he’s still available as free agent. “Up to Lingard and Ettifaq if they want to proceed together, Steven Gerrard will be key to decide too.” This summer, Jordan Henderson, Dmarai Gray and Gini Wijnaldum all moved to link up with Gerrard at Al Ettifaq. Back in June, Lingard spoke about a potential move to Saudi Arabia. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I'm considering all options. I've never ruled out any team or club out, so for me it's just picking the right team and it's got to be right for me. “Saudi Arabia are doing big things, and in the next couple of years or so, it will be one of the hotspots to go to.” Lingard continued: “I'm not really surprised that the big names are moving out there. Like I say, they're doing big things and it's something I would consider as well – I've not ruled that out either. “It's got to be right for me at the end of the day. I've got to go on my gut feeling but I'm still hungry and striving for success.”"
