"Thought they'd talk more about his time at West Ham. Seemed to spend more time discussing Martin Keown. Not a bad interview, but as others have said, nothing new or particularly interesting came out of it."

"4-2 down at one point, went on to win 5-4, with Di Canio scoring a penalty which I think he ended up winning. Might have been the day he took the ball off fatty. Yes, he’d previously missed a penalty, so Fatty picked up the ball to take the 2nd one. Dicanio wasn’t having any of it! Bywater was having a mare as well on what I think was his debut in goal"

Good interview but probably not anything you haven't heard before. I met him once when he was manager of Sunderland and they had an 'incident' at a hotel near Southampton the night before they played there. Made the papers and everything. I've probably only told the story about a billion times.

"Nah he didn't refuse to play per se. He was getting kicked all over the place by the Bradford defenders and had a couple of pretty nailed on penalties waved off so he apparently asked to be subbed out of frustration at how the game was being refereed. 4-2 down at one point, went on to win 5-4, with Di Canio scoring a penalty which I think he ended up winning. Might have been the day he took the ball off fatty."

"He asked to be subbed. The ref was having a mare from what I remember. We turned it round and won 5-4, pretty sure Bywater made his debut in goal that day too"

Didn't he refuse to play in a game against Bradford because the ref kept turning down his appeals for a penalty?

"WHUDeano, I don’t remember him refusing to play for us afterwards (Although wouldn’t be a huge shock) but yeah my recollection of that whole situation was that we rejected a bid from Man Utd (thought to be around 3.5 million) and the only way they would come back in with an improved offer was if they could shift one of their other strikers like Dwight Yorke. Paolo has then subsequently put his own take on it over the years by claiming it was him that turned down Man Utd. I remember the home game against Leicester during that period where he came off the pitch at full time saying his goodbyes to the crowd so he obviously thought the move was on."

With my hearing I struggle to understand Paolo so I put the captions on. Not quite the subtitle standard of TV and it made the interview quite hilarious because whoever did the captions couldn't understand Paolo either!!

"I'm sure that story of him rejecting Man Utd to stay with us is nonsense, I'm certain I remember reading/hearing at the time that he wanted the move but we rejected the offer and I'm pretty sure he refused to play for a game or two in protest?"

"Watched the first 15 then got bored. Great player and certainly a ''character'' no doubt, but personally I don't find him that interesting, bit too hyper for my taste, plus a lot of stuff has all been heard many times of course."

"Been some decent episodes of ' Up Front' Jordan has surprised me, he comes across as a good interviewer, not like many of the sycophants in that industry."
