Guardian Mohammed Kudus stunner earns West Ham battling draw against Newcastle Mohammed Kudus rescued a point for West Ham as they drew 2-2 with Newcastle United Jacob Steinberg at the London Stadium This was about perseverance. While Newcastle found it impossible to produce the dynamism that tore Paris Saint-Germain to shreds, they displayed character by taking control during the second half and were poised to claim a valuable victory before West Ham rescued a point with a brilliant late equaliser from Mohammed Kudus. In the end there was warm applause for both sides for digging deep and going the distance after draining midweek assignments in Europe. There were flaws on display, though it was hard to be overly critical. If Newcastle were running on empty after their win against PSG, it was hard to tell when they turned the game on its head after half-time. After Tomas Soucek‚Äôs opener for West Ham, they went ahead as the impressive Alexander Isak scored twice in five minutes. It seemed there would only be one winner at that stage. No doubt there would have been if Isak had gone on to complete his hat-trick, only to miss an open goal after going through and rounding Alphonse Areola, West Ham‚Äôs goalkeeper. That was the turning point. West Ham are nothing if not resilient under David Moyes and, though they were not at their best, they earned their reward when Kudus, on as a substitute, scored his first goal in the Premier League after taking a pass from Vladimir Coufal and drilling in a left-footed shot from 20 yards. There soon followed an inquest into the failings that allowed Kudus to deny Newcastle a win that would have taken them above West Ham and into seventh. There was some irritation at Sandro Tonali, the inconsistent Italy midfielder, failing to stop the Ghana forward from shooting. Questions were also raised over why Kudus was in so much space, plus why Coufal was allowed to advance so far from right-back before finding West Ham‚Äôs ¬£37m summer signing. Whoever was to blame, though, the biggest takeaway was that Newcastle need to be more ruthless if they are to return to the Champions League next season. ‚ÄúI‚Äôm really disappointed we didn‚Äôt get over the line,‚Äù was Howe‚Äôs verdict. ‚ÄúWe‚Äôve made a couple of mistakes and got punished.‚Äù It became clear from the outset that Newcastle would not find it easy to summon the intensity that overwhelmed PSG. West Ham, buoyed by beating Freiburg in the Europa League, had complete faith in their suffocating tactics after going ahead with the game‚Äôs first noteworthy attack. West Ham‚Äôs opener was evidence of their ability to make a lot out of very little. Nothing appeared to be brewing when Michail Antonio darted to the left to beat Jamaal Lascelles to the ball. Newcastle‚Äôs mistake, though, was believing it. Their defensive shape unravelled with Lascelles pulled out of the centre and they were slow to react when Lucas Paquet?° played a lovely ball over the top after spotting Emerson Palmieri‚Äôs surge from left-back. Nick Pope flew off his line and was stranded when Emerson got there first. The Italy international went round Pope and saw support arriving in the six-yard box. Soucek, making the most of being given the freedom to advance from midfield, easily collected his fourth goal in six games. Tomas Soucek gave West Ham the lead in the first half as he finished well from close range Newcastle, who looked short of natural width without the suspended Anthony Gordon, struggled to regain their composure. Sean Longstaff smashed a pass out of play. Bruno Guimar?£es was booked for fouling Emerson and should have received a second yellow for tripping James Ward-Prowse. West Ham gave little away, though Newcastle improved as half-time approached. Isak‚Äôs dancing feet gave them hope up front, as did Miguel Almir??n sending a rasping shot inches wide. Dan Burn also headed just wide. With Guimar?£es seeing more of the ball in midfield, there was a sense that West Ham would need another goal. It was a concern for Moyes that Jarrod Bowen, who has signed a new seven-year deal, was finding little room on the right. West Ham threatened at the start of the second half, Edson ?Ålvarez heading wide from Ward-Prowse‚Äôs corner, but there was more urgency from Newcastle. Areola saved a header from Burn after a cross from Isak. The pressure was growing, as was West Ham‚Äôs irritation with the refereeing. They seethed when Paquet?° was penalised for a foul, but they failed to switch on when Kieran Trippier delivered the free‚Äëkick. ?Ålvarez‚Äôs clearing header fell to Isak, who scored with a powerful shot. The visitors soon led. Trippier‚Äôs overlapping runs gave West Ham a problem they could not solve. When Guimar?£es sprayed a pass out to his flank the right-back had time to volley a cross past Nayef Aguerd and into the path of Isak, who converted from close range. Newcastle looked comfortable but wasted chances to score again and West Ham made them pay when Kudus let fly with his left foot. The mood changed and Newcastle were relieved when Pope pushed away a stinging drive from Bowen in added time. Sport Witness Journalist claims West Ham ‚Äòclearly want‚Äô 24-year-old ‚Äì Will face competition for signing By Naveen Ullal West Ham United are keeping tabs on Galatasaray star Kerem Akt?ºrkoƒülu, according to journalist Haldun Doma?ß. He claims the Hammers have identified the winger as a target to potentially replace Jarrod Bowen and his comments are relayed by Habersarikirmizi.com, a site dedicating it‚Äôs coverage to the Istanbul club. Doma?ß states West Ham are keen on the 24-year-old Turkey international and have joined other clubs in the transfer chase. ‚ÄúWest Ham clearly want Kerem Akt?ºrkoƒülu. It is even said that Jarrod Bowen will go to Liverpool to replace Mohamed Salah and Akt?ºrkoƒülu will go to West Ham instead,‚Äù he said. ‚ÄúKerem has a contract until 2026. He also has suitors from Italy and Spain. We can clearly say that Kerem is developing very quickly.‚Äù On Sunday, the England international committed his long-term future to David Moyes‚Äô side by signing a new deal until 2030, and that should rule out his potential exit for the time being. There‚Äôs a possibility that Doma?ß made this claim about West Ham a few hours before their star‚Äôs renewal was made official. In addition to this, Akt?ºrkoƒülu cannot be viewed as a potential candidate to replace Bowen because the former prefers to operate on the left wing while David Moyes has mainly used Bowen on the right wing. Therefore, we suggest to take Doma?ß‚Äôs claim ‚Äì at least the Bowen bit ‚Äì with a pinch of salt. The Galatasaray star has scored five goals and registered seven assists from 16 games and Bowen has five goals and two assists from nine games this season. Caught Offside West Ham enter race to sign 21-year-old Bundesliga defender Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie has been linked with a move away from the German club in recent months. He was linked with a move away from the Bundesliga during the summer transfer window as well when clubs like Liverpool were keen on him. However, the Ecuador international ended up staying. A report from FussballTransfers now claims that West Ham are keen on the player as well. The 21-year-old is highly rated around Europe and he has a bright future ahead of him. A move to the Premier League would be the ideal next step in his career and he would get to test himself at a higher level. Hincapie has proven himself as one of the most talented young defenders in the Bundesliga and he has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in English football as well. West Ham could certainly use defensive reinforcements and Hincapie would be a quality acquisition. It remains to be seen whether the Hammers can fend off competition from clubs like Liverpool and sign the player. Hincapie is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and West Ham will have to shell out the premium for him. The defender will be looking to take the next step in his career and he will want to join a club capable of challenging for major trophies. Although West Ham are not quite at that level yet, they are competing in the UEFA Europa League and it remains to be seen whether they can convince that defender to join them. The Hard Tackle West Ham United want Brahim Diaz by Abhinav Sharma West Ham United are reportedly interested in a winter move for Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz, who is ‚Äúseriously considering‚Äù the prospect of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. According to Fichajes, West Ham United have ‚Äúemerged as a potential destination‚Äù for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz as head coach David Moyes‚Äô looks to add even more quality to his attack. Los Blancos paid an initial ¬£15.5 million to sign Diaz from Manchester City in January 2019 but watched the Spanish youngster struggle to make an impact, eventually sending him out on a one-year loan to AC Milan in the summer of 2020. Diaz would later return to San Siro on a fresh two-year loan deal, during which he established himself as a key player for the Serie A side, winning the league title in 2021/22, he has since returned to Spain to take up a role in Real Madrid‚Äôs first team once again. Upon his return, Diaz inked a new deal to tie himself to Los Blancos until the summer of 2027. However, due to the lack of first-team opportunities, the creative midfielder is now considering a change of scenery. The fierce competition for places in the team has limited the 24-year-old Spanish international‚Äôs opportunities, as he has only been given 107 minutes of La Liga action this season. So, perhaps a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu is needed in order for him to gain more regular first-team action and to help fulfil his potential, with the Premier League dubbed as ‚Äúthe perfect destination‚Äù for him amid fresh interest from David Moyes‚Äô West Ham. The report adds that the East London outfit views the versatile Spaniard as a potential value addition to their squad, especially given the extensive interest in talismanic winger Jarrod Bowen‚Äôs services from clubs higher up the food chain. That‚Äôs despite the Englishman penning a new seven-year deal at the London Stadium in recent hours. The winger‚Äôs commitment to the Hammers will not altogether shut down speculation of a move to the likes of Liverpool, but it will mean that it will now become considerably harder for his suitors to prize him away. The Reds have earmarked Bowen as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, should the Egyptian depart Anfield in 2024 for the riches of Saudi Arabia, and a move to Liverpool could be a tempting proposition for the player. Even if the Irons manage to keep hold of Bowen, signing Diaz in the upcoming winter transfer window would certainly not go amiss for David Moyes‚Äô side and would be a huge boost to their chances of finishing inside the top half this term, as well as reaching the latter stages in the Europa League. With his diminutive stature, Diaz is a nightmare for defenders, as his low centre of gravity makes him extremely quick and difficult to catch. His quick changes of direction and ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations will certainly endear him to the Hammers faithful. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will be open to selling their prized asset midway through the season given that they themselves have limited attacking options, but the opportunity to sign the Madrid starlet is surely one that the Hammers won‚Äôt want to miss out on. The 72 West Ham interested in Wigan Athletic's Charlie Hughes Wigan Athletic defender Charlie Hughes is wanted by West Ham United, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page. Wigan Athletic could face a battle to keep hold of the prospect this winter. He has stood out for the League One side so far this season. Hughes, 19, has risen up through the youth ranks of the North West side. The teenager has made 36 first-team appearances for them to date."
