Education in the UK

Post LeroysBoots »

"Any of you lot have kids at school or college ? Do you think you know what is being taught to your kids, without your permission ? My wife is a personal tutor at a college They have an HR department that instructs the staff to call all the kids they They insist on a virulent woke agenda throughout everything they do Latest, they all had to stay behind ( in their own time ) to listen to a trans in pigtails talking about how great it is to be them. 99% of all staff hate this agenda but are being bullied to accept it or face ""consequences"". I said to my wife it sounds like indoctrination akin to the Nazi regime I said to her thank god we don't have kids at school these days The head has assemblies where she doesn't address the kids as boys or girls What the fuck happened to our country and why is this allowed to continue dye to a vocal minority of cunts She leaves at Christmas as she's had enough"

"OK Exeter. So what would you do if, thanks to your efforts as a maths teacher, your students decided they'd be better off voting for a party with a proper fucking immigration policy?"

"“genuinely curious - how does one go about teaching maths in any kind of useful context without taking politics into the classroom”? Genuinely, WTF?!?! Right kids, M+C squared / X = M to the power of 8* Remembering that C = Maximilian Robespierre and X equals the Liberal Democrat’s divided by the treaty of Versailles. Away you go. *someone’s going to tell me that’s not possible."

"All depends on the context. For some, any kind of instruction on what the birds and the bees like to do may be considered indoctrination. As teachers we’re supposed to be resilient enough in our own political position to handle that kind of thing."

Ooooo now the cans open and the worms are all over the place. When is it learning and when is it instruction to pass an exam? When is it teaching vs Indoctrination through fear of being ostracized for not saying 'the right thing' or thinking 'the right thoughts'

"Oh, I was thinking more along the lines of applying maths to basic every day economic life allowing for rational decision/ making. Like you know when we have the kind of politicians we get elected these days. Basic logic seems to be an arcane art these days. Oh and there’s really no need to be so rude."
