MSG Sphere - Stratford

Post scott_d »

"Looks like planning permission is going in for a 21k seater MSG Sphere at Stratford. Some resistance because they think it might overcrowd an already busy area but I can't imagine they give a shit about the crowds if there is a big money to be made? They mention ""making use of the car park"" too, which I am not sure means they will take it over completely and use the car park for themselves or use the area for the sphere, might be clearer to someone a bit smarter! https://www.queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/planning-authority/madison-square-garden-planning-application"

"Can't see any drawbacks to this. makes the area more atttractive to investment, cool new venue, hardly likely to interfere with getting to and from the stadium and will lead to improvements to the station. Seems like a win win. Maybe they'll light it up in our colours when we're playing at home..."

"As Lee states, it's busy on non-matchdays too, loads going on and loads of train links so the station and Westfield is always busy."

"You not heard of Westfield, Sven? The biggest shopping destination in Europe might get a little busy at times, even without the football and Abba crowds."

"An already busy area? Apart from us bringing 60,000 once a fortnight and people going to the Abba thing just how BUSY is it? Needs as many attractions as possible ... the U2 one in Vegas has got amazing reviews. Bring it on !"

Would it be the same as that sphere thing in Las Vegas? That thing is amazing.

"Yeah, the Vegas one is immense even just driving past it. I don't have to open my curtains to it, so I'm another to say, ""Bring it on""!"

"Work mate went to watch U2 in the Vegas Sphere 2 weeks ago and said it is insane, the most impressive thing he's ever experienced. The videos he's shown me are incredible. Bring it on I say."
