"NS - Only had mine a couple of months, but the best investment I've made in ages and why anyone would pay for Sky Movies, Box-Sets anymore is beyond me. One question though....how do you log off properly....I usually just do shut down...am I missing something? Cheers"

Re: Kodi XBMC
"Had my M8 box from droidsticks about 2 years now... have to say one of the best Ôø?80 I have spent... few teething probs but only very occasionally now... the home plugs deffo help with buffering issues (very rare occurence now)... can be tricky at first navigating your way around but my main advice for smooth running is ... When you turn your box on let it properly load up and update (5 mins or so), don't pause for long periods as it just fills your boxes cache up and after watching any film or match (or filth)Delete your Cache and packages and then log off kodi properly rather than just shut down. There is a great Kodi/droidsticks forum that is always useful if you have any problems... always find them really useful when occasionally I have had to do a factory reset and load the wizard back on"

"Have Kodi on my Fire Stick. Don't ask me how it's installed on it cos I didn't do it, but it's easy enough to use. Don't have a keyboard, all through the remote. One handy tool is app2fire so you can download apps to your phone and send it to the stick."
Re: Kodi XBMC
"Sydney, the stick is OK to side load kodi on, loads of YouTube videos to assist, but I would say it was a budget option primarily. The remote is basic and functional with no frills. I think there maybe an app so you can use an android phone as a remote, but I haven't tried it myself."

"I am considering an Amazon Fire stick or box. Whats the advantages of the box? I am a Prime customer. Plus I wanna stick all the Kodi stuff on. I bought a box from Droidsticks 18 months ago, it's still fine but creaking now. Is it easy enough to get the Kodi on the amazon box/stick without a PhD? Plus with the amazon stick/box do you still need a keyboard or does the remote work well enough?"

"Noticed this cough...the sub menu has changed to Woody!Still has the live sports, but no footy sub menu, which is a pain. Did find a decent stream, but had to go through all the HD channel options, which was a pain....hopefully they will sort it out?"

"Gank - install Kodi on Windows and play with it there. If you get the hang of it, then get yourself a dedicated box. Cheapest that work very well are Amazon Fire Stick or a Raspberry Pi."

Re: Kodi XBMC
Just be careful with boxes directly from china mate. Theres no guarantee it won't come with a chinese version of android on it. Theres some decently priced and spec'd boxes on both amazon and eBay. I have the minix neo7 which cost me a fortune but its a couple of years old now but still going strong.

Re: Kodi XBMC
"Gank, the boxes with everything installed are alright, but you have to remember that every now and again you might need to add something, update something or delete something. Therefore you will still need to learn how to use it. For that reason I always recommend buying the best empty box you can and doing it yourself. Practice makes perfect as they say - Its really not that difficult to do, if you have an android phone you'll find it a doddle, i dont but i picked it up easily enough."
Re: Kodi XBMC
"gank, there's loads of different boxes, I have one box but I hardly use it, the best one in my experience and so far is the simplest and that is the Amazon Fire stick, you can get them from eBay already pre loaded with the usual streaming suspects at about the 50 or 60 notes mark"
Re: Kodi XBMC
You can get an empty android box and add kodi and a wizard (suite of ad dons prepare by some kind soul). It isn't too hard and there are loads of YouTube videos to follow. I bought a preloaded box a couple of years ago for ease. But I have just bought an Amazon Fire stick and loaded the beast wizard via YouTube videos.
Re: Kodi XBMC
"Far Cough, your patience with my ignorance is commendable, thank you! I now feel suitably educated. I am taken with the idea of buying a powerful but cheap 'empty' box and down/uploading everything I need myself. A custom kit. Would you recommend this over buying a 'ready to go' box? Do you need to purchase any software or can I get it all for nothing? Could I fuck it up for good or is it easy to start over from scratch? Presumably there are online guides for most of it but I really like the idea and you seem the expert on this stuff, you've already made it all very clear for me, and I was a complete dunce on this subject before today."
