Moving over from old WHO? Start here!

Post stubbo-admin »

This post is intended to help those moving over to the new forum from the older West Ham Online.

If there are questions not addressed in the post, add them below and we'll aim to address them ASAP.
  1. Claiming an old WHO Username

All the old WHO Username's have been migrated to the new website to avoid posters registering other posters names.  To claim your old username is as follows:

    a. Try using the 'Forgot My Password' link when selecting Login in the site menu, and entering your email address.  If your email has been migrated you'll get an email to enable you to reset your password and access your account.

    b. Send a WhoMail on the OLD site to either North Bank, Wils, or Stubbo that includes your email address from the username you are claiming.  We'll then update the new site and you can use the 'forgot password' link as per (a) above to set your Username's new password using your email address.

To do this open the profile for the user on the old site and select to 'send WhoMail'.

    Links to these users are:

    - North Bank
    - Wils
    - Stubbo

  2. Where are all my old posts?

We're 'slowly' moving over all the old content from the old site to the new site.  This isn't a five minute exercise unfortunately and is a bit imperfect. but we should be able to get 95% of the way there.

Intention is to bring over all threads that had a post added to them since January 2023 and had more than 5 replies.

If there is a particularly nostalgic/WHO Gold type post that should be migrated that isn't met by this criteria, add the link to it in the replies below, and we'll migrate it over.

  3. Where are all my old WHO Mails?

Unfortunately the old WHO Mail system and the new WHO Mail system are not compatible, so we are unable to move over WHO Mail.  Please take a copy and save offline any old WHO Mail you wanted to keep for reference.

  4. The post order is wrong? The reply order is wrong?  Swear words appear as '****'?

The new site lets you manage certain settiings in your user profile.  This includes the display order for Posts and also for replies in posts, as well as deciding if profanity should be filtered or not.

To control these you can click on the User Control Panel and update these settings and many others (including your timezone).  The direct link for these settings is here:

User Control Panel | Board Display Settings

If you have questions about any of the User Control Panel settings, leave a reply in this thread below after claiming your username.  If you can't get logged in, leave a reply in the dedicated thread on the old site or use the Contact Us page.

It's on the list....just been snowed with 'real' work the last two days to fit it in (the bigger, older threads are a bit trickier). But it will arrive this week.

You can. Go to the user controls panel, Board Prefs, Display options, and set replies to ascending.

Great work lads, loved the old site and been here since the preston play off final i think, but it did need this change. I know it couldn't have been easy to agree and sort between you, let alone do what you are doing. Lets hope that it allows the site to have a bit of a rebirth and get busy again.

Thanks
Matt

Thanks to everyone involved. Followed my log in instructions and all sorted. Easy transition. New site looks really good. Once I get used to the navigation and how the chat forum looks this will be an excellent upgrade,

Try using this site. The image needs to be 50px x 50px (if I remember right)

https://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

Just set it to '50' and use the picture it generates for you.

Cheers - all sorted, thanks
