Eagle eyed movie buffs will know that he played Zulu chief Cetshwayo kaMpande in the film Zulu RIP Pvt. Cole: Why is it us? Why us? Colour Sergeant Bourne: Because we're here, lad. Nobody else. Just us.

RIP to the Cheif Wonder what he thought about the Zulu movie being put on a list of problematic films that incite the far right in todays fucked up world ? Michael Caine recently gave them a blast for it, the government that is, not the Zulus! Sir Michael Caine has blasted the 'bull***t' suggestion his 1964 film Zulu incites the far-Right after it was included on a government list of works that may 'encourage' extremism. The epic war movie, which also starred cinematic greats Richard Burton and Stanley Baker, depicts the 1879 Battle of Rorke's Drift during the Anglo-Zulu war, in which 150 British soldiers successfully held off 4,000 Zulu warriors.

Is there a Crippledhooker Tree at Rourke's Drift, too? Small world, small legs...well at least one small leg.

Zulu is one of my favourite films of all time. I watched it over and over again when I was a child. I love this line from the missionary Otto Witt (Jack Hawkins) to his daughter at the start of the film when he and his daughter (played by the beautiful Ulla Jacobsson) are discussing the mass arranged marriage ceremony they are witnessing as guests of the Zulu chief. Something like: "In Europe young women accept arranged marriages to rich older men. Perhaps the Zulu women are luckier getting a brave man". The woke brigade would no doubt consider Zulu an imperialist film that should be cancelled (note it is barely shown on TV anymore), but the script it actually very even handed and has an anti-war message throughout it. It also pays huge respect to the fitness and bravery of the Zulu army alongside the bravery of the defenders of Rourke's Drift. A great, great film.

You’re a big man, but you’re in bad shape. With me, it’s a full time job. Now behave yourself.

"Looks bad in the newspapers and upsets civilians at their breakfast." (Zulu).” LT Gonville Bromhead discussing the possibility of massacre at Rorke’s Drift.
