WHU I agree with that. It does have the feel of HAMAS not really working for tbe Palestinians but as agents of Iran. Not saying Israel is entirely blameless either though Netanyahu certainly will be looking to use this for goodwill among the more right wing sections of the Jewish population as Hamas will with its sympathisers. Poor buggers stuck.in the middle on both sides I feel bad for as Swindon Hammer put it there are no winners in this. Well certainly not among the people on both sides who just want a peaceful life.

I think its fair to say that you probably have overlooked a quite important fact.
