General Election - July 2024

Post twoleftfeet »

This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

What constitutes correct information? Surely its the information that makes your life as you wish for? For ne that’s about doing my own analysis and deciding what is good and possible in the assumption the laws allow it? So. Dont assume any politician has your best interests at heart and fight for your own version of utopia.

Beware the role played AI in this election. I live in the U.S. and the majority of U.S. citizens get their news from social media. The amount of misinformation is stunning.

See Debs - we’re wrong. It’s not about having somewhere to live or an education. It’s about Jesus.

"""People that you want having babies won't do especially when it costs so much in childcare. Working class people won't have them.either because they get penalised through the benefit system. Either way if you want people to have babies it's going to cost money and does suggest that we aren't over populated as certain people might suggest."" Scandinavian country's provide all the support you could want to support families. It doesn't shift the fertility rate at all. The richest countries started declining first, see Japan, South Korea, Wester Europe. Poor countries like Nigeria have highest fertility rates. Hungary has also tried to alter policy to shift fertility rates. Have 4 kids there you pay zero income tax, but their fertility rate is still way below replacement. So it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with culture, atittudes and values."

Reform are likely to get as much of the popular vote as the LibDems but due to the undemocratic FPP system Westminster uses they will end up with no MPs whilst the LibDems could have a dozen or more. We need electoral reform to get this country moving.

For many years now people have been voting for the least worse party than the best because they are all a shower of shit. Those voting Reform will play a big part in handing labour a majority leaving no viable opposition in the house Reform are unlikely to win any seats from.a standing start however so it will merely prove to be a protest vote. I'm still not convinced those in the red wall seats that voted tory last time will be having Starmer the man who orchestrated the people's vote but they too are likely to vote reform. It's labours to lose at the moment but if anyone can. I
