General Election - July 2024
This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

Darlo Debs 8:39 Fri May 24 It does make a difference when the victims (in their thousands) were targeted BECAUSE of their race & religion and the authorities went along with it BECAUSE of the race & religion of the abusers

"I have a MATE in a similar potion, goose. Him and everyone he works with has had to has special training on how to work with someone who's self diagnosed themselves with ADHD."
Re: General Election - July 2024
"I posted on here about a woman at work who’s a professional victim. Not content with being a victim because she’s a black woman, she’s now (in her 40s) self diagnosed ADHD & autism from a TikTok video. She now walks around the office with headphones (paid for my the company) on because of her condition. Her shitty work is because of her condition. She does talks about her condition despite never being diagnosed by a medical professional."

"Mashed or maybe I just see the issue as being one that needs tackling, from.the point of view of the children themselves the abuse is no different if the perpetrator is a Catholic priest, their gym instructor or a Muslim. Sexual.exploitation of children needs dealing with ."

"Because they'd hear my accent if I was talking to my husband they gave a very village insular mentality. I went to see a Weller tribute act with Mr D in a pub and this lady stood near me heard his accent and said to her friend within my earshot......and I quote ""This is a local pub for local.people'"

"Council Scum 5:37 Fri May 24 100% spot on and it ain't just kids. How many adults get diagnosed with ADHD/BPD etc and then it becomes their whole personality? Rants on FB about how it's unfair people expect them to reply to texts/show up on time/not treat their partner like shit etc cos of their condition. Next step is ""I can't work because...."""

"Nutsin 5:18 Fri May 24 Don't think there's a hateful bone in debs' body tbf. Used to think people blind to stuff like grooming gangs were just misinformed, but its more than that. Its ideological. Some people see a problem and they think ""this needs to be fixed "". Other people see it and think ""how can i deal with this without feeling uncomfortable"" Admitting that some groups are overrepresented in types of crime based on race/religion would be unthinkable if you view the world like her. Look out for similar at work, people will avoid problems that mean their opinions might be wrong. Same thing."

Re: General Election - July 2024
Labour are going to win. and in all probability even bigger than in 1997 . Which obviously isn't good for democracy. But labour are not allowed to play politics on easy mode unlike the Tories . Which is exactly the reason its all turned to shit . Literally.

"Mike I think that is exactly why Labour cannot be complacent. Remain Were on course to win, so much so that too many people didn't bother thinking it was a foregone conclusion.."

"Sydney_Iron wrote... Re: General Election - July 2024 I’m shocked at just how many people are saying they won’t bother voting as both the main party’s are not worth voting for or don’t deserve it! Could be one of the lowest turnouts ever, if fact the real winner will be the numbers who didn’t vote. There may be other reasons why many don't bother with voting, not least the voting system. I have lived at my address for 48 years. I am not and never will be a Tory voter. When I moved to this address it was in a marginal Tory/Liberal seat. So voting either Labour or Liberal would make a difference. After a constituency boundary change, I found myself in what is now the 11th most safe Tory seat. A further redrawing of the boundary and I was in the 16th safest Tory constituency. Yet another change at the last general election placed my house in the 5th safest seat for the Conservatives. I have long since taken to spoiling my ballot. Often calling for a system that would make my vote meaningful or sometimes just ranting at the failures of the political system in the uk"

Are these the same polls and pollsters that claimed Remain would win at a canter in the Brexit referendum?

"I'm looking forward to 5 years of Labour just to see how the left wing media react and also to see the inevitable infighting between the soft left and the hard left. Its going to be a car crash of a government, very similar to the Tories under Johnson. I'll get my popcorn and tune in. I"
Re: General Election - July 2024
ray winstone 7:06 Fri May 24 Not if the current polls hold up. Labour win easily with the conservative reduced to 40-130ish MPs if you take the margin for error into account. I can't see Rishi Sunak pulling that back as he Theresa May level hopeless at campaigning; the more people see of him the less they like him. Today's misstep was visiting the Titanic quarter in Belfast - cue sinking ship analogies.

"The thing at the moment is, 'if you vote Reform, you're handing it to labour, who are worse than the Tories' Bollocks, they're both shit, and if everyone who thought that did vote Reform, they'll win. They're far from perfect, but things need to change."
