General Election - July 2024
This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.
Re: General Election - July 2024
"""Your argument does seem.to suggest that because your nsn and grandad were nationalistic"" My grandparents, like everyone else, took their views from the boundaries that the Overton window was set to at the time. My grandparents were nationalistic becuase the East end was nationalistic. Yes, that's a generalisation to which you will no doubt find exceptions but that's how people were. The Battle of Cable Street has been portrayed by the left as an example of a politically aware populace organising a resistance. Where in reality they saw fascism and it's paraphernalia as distinctively foreign and alien. It was more akin to xenophobia than humanism."

"Darlo Debs 1:25 Tue Jun 4 Re: General Election - July 2024 COYI He is not a British patriotic far from it. Had he been around in the late 30's he'd have been a Blackshirt. He has a history of supporting the far right and is the kind of person that some of our grandfather's fought to.protect us from. He isn't even a man of his word. He said if Brexit was a disaster he'd leave the country, yet he admitted Brexit was a disaster and here he is lingering around like a huge shit we can't flush. ___ Ah, the old ""anyone who doesn't agree with me and who wants to see immigration curtailed is a racist"" trope. Desperate stuff as per usual from intolerant lefties. What's your view on record immigration Debs? You ok with 2.5 million people LEGALLY migrating to the UK in two years? You ok to invite the third world to come here in droves and take over our land?"

"Faux indeed...yet another about turn from.the Pound Shop Moseley. He makes a fool.of those supporting him as not too.lomg ago they'd have been repeating his mantra of needing an Australian style points system to get the people we needed, which proved he wasnt anti- immigration. Oh yes and he also said we could get a better than Norway bespoke deal. Then said our Brexit was a disaster because we should have one for no deal. He obviously thinks everyone us daft enough not to see through him"

Re: General Election - July 2024
Your grandad and nan may have had those views but you can't ascribe that across all. The battle of Cable street was a clear demonstration that plenty of people knew what they were fighting against. Your argument does seem.to suggest that because your nsn and grandad were nationalistic though that it might be an acceptable thing we should repeat rather that recoil from. .

"Darlo Debs wrote... ""He has a history of supporting the far right and is the kind of person that some of our grandfather's fought to.protect us from."" My Grandfather was fighting the Germans not an ideology. When he was being shot at he knew nothing of the holocaust, the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche or any of the other things motivating the Germans and Italians at the time. If you asked him his views on nationalism or immigration, as the conversation would often turn to in the east end, his views were as close to Farage's as you can get. As were my nan's who lived through blitz. So don't go claiming those peoples sacrifices were motivated by left wing idealism, in their mind they were fighting for England against the Germans. It was simple as that."

Re: General Election - July 2024
Violator he has a history of supporting far right parties when he was an MEP and an interview he had with James O'brien exposed his far right sympathies. In the not too distant past he has spread antisemitic conspiracy theories and it's not spread over the media because too many if our journalists can't ir won't confront him.properly on it. What side says is utter bollocks. What he calls illegal immigration ..ie people on boats isn't even illegal. ..but who needs facts eh?

FREEDOM of movement & ILLEAGAL immigration........is all Farage has spoken up against....and according to Debs in her ignorance that makes him a Blackshirt......hahahaha!
Re: General Election - July 2024
"Depends how you define ""far right"", to me that's the NF, British Movement, C18...does he have a history of supporting those, if so I'm surprised it hasn't been plastered all over the media."

"Ignore Svender on our general election, he has that unenviable trait of being half Scottish and thinking he is Australian. He’ll do things like hate on Farage purely because he thinks he’s an immigrant in England when in fact he is when he visits Australia……one mixed up fucker they is……."

"Perhaps we should allow the immigrants into the UK to treat their local hosts in the same way immigrants to Australia treat their local hosts. Oh, and do you think it's possible for the BBC to find a less flattering picture of Farage then the selection they are currently using?"

It is good news however that Farage after years of lying has finally effectively admitted that Brexit was about immigration with his current statements

"Why do you denounce a British patriot to voices many people's genuine and sincere concern over unfettered mass immigration as a ""swivel eyed loon""? Typical liberal, lefty intolerance."

"Member for Clacton is a former actor who appeared in Bread Was elected in 2019 with 72.3% of the vote and a majority of 24,700 He is a Conservative but obviously a swivel eyed loon like Farage may appeal even more to Essex man"
