General Election - July 2024
This appears to be the rumour on Sky. An easy win for Starmer and some big names losing their seats. The Country needs a change but is it going to get one? The thought of seeing that annoying Beth Rigby for 6 weeks though is a horrifying thought.

"It was Flying Ant Day today. I came onto WHO, fully expecting to find a thread celebrating the event, so I could join in the merriment. Eff all. Our WHO traditions are dying."

Tex I think you think Lammy or anyone else in this country has more influence over the situation in Gaza than they actually do.

Re: General Election - July 2024
"Got to be a very good reason why the successful enterprises of the west don't invest in manufacturing infrastructure in the east of the EU trading bloc. Oh, wait! I might have an idea. Did a contract some time back for a company that builds ATMs (cash machines). Whilst I was there they were in the middle of their American owner initiated action to move manufacture to Poland. They had to stop the move and bring everything back to the UK on account of a virtual 100% failure rate of the Polish built ATMs when delivered for installation. So, somebody in Poland got a nice new shiny factory out of it, and probably the funding up front to run it for a few years without (the costs of) actually producing a useful product. It's not even as if ATMs are that difficult to build - even back then they were virtually plug-&-play, and still they fucked it up. Driving juggernauts rammed to the gills with illegal immigrants across the channel obviously an easier option."

Re: General Election - July 2024
It makes the U.K. relieved to no longer have the burden of Poland’s younger generations thinking that’s where their future lies…..they can now ask why after over 40 years there is still a huge gap in opportunity from East to West Europe on a supposed trade deal that was supposed to level this out…..no? Migration (freedom of movement) was never mean’t to be so one way was it? Or was a slave labour market always the goal?

"zebthecat 2:15 Sun Jul 14 Show me anywhere where I've said who I voted for. Not something you, or anybody else, have declared by implication based on the contents of my posts, but actually stated my selection. You can't because I have never done so. If my decision to not make that fact public boils peoples' piss, then there's gonna be a hell of a lot of Jap's Eyes with 3rd degree burns."
