"I've got to admit that I only really started watching it yesterday but fuck me, the camerawork is next level. Some of it is being broadcast in HDR (which is AMAZING if your telly supports it) some of the faster track and field is shot at what looks to be 600fps which when they slow it down to 30fps or less looks as smooth as butter and you can see every runner's face muscles tightening or slightly wobbling as they hoof it up the track. The women's high jump nearly had me jizzing in my pants! Amazing, cutting edge photography."

Not sure who is producing the coverage but they will concentrate on their own athletes The BBC has a minority package behind Discovery so not sure they can show everything ... hence we have a lot of blah blah blah by the panel Often seems to be a pair of gays (Foster & Balding) to make Goose's point plus SpoonFace Adlington Have I said I cant stand Clare Balding?

The French obsession of training the cameras on every French athlete even if they're not in contention has spoilt the coverage. Well done the BBC for cutting off the gold medal second set in the men's tennis final. Unbelievable Jeff.

"Winning the 100 meters by a five thousandth of a second, and they announced it in seconds. It would take VAR a week to sort that out. Keely Hodgkinson a shoo-in for a gold tomorrow. Seems a lovely lass too."

Ah ok. He’s said he’s got a very minor niggle so ran it nominally to qualify for the repocharge on Tuesday to give himself extra time to recover. Smart? Probably. Against the spirit of the rules? I think so. Hope it doesn’t become a thing where people start cynically using the repocharge system which I don’t think they should have bought in in the first place. Maybe this will lead to a rethink.

One of the yank 110 metre hurdlers just basically jogged his heat finishing last by a mile. Apparently uninjured. By their own standards not a great games so far and the athletics hasn’t started well for them at all. I wonder if there’s some sort of major story or disharmony somewhere.

"ForeverHammers I'm sure she doesn't. But my criticism was mainly of the continual hype and free pass she gets mainly from the media- mainly the beeb rather than her performances per se. You'd think she'd been there and done it all the way they talk about her every time, and the way they act so shocked when she doesn't deliver each time while other athletes have accomplished more with nowhere near the fanfare. Zero individual Olympic medals. One world championship bronze since 2019."

The idea of middle aged men sitting at home patronising Olympic qualifiers on the Internet is highly amusing. Literally no-marks criticising people who have achieved more than they could ever hope to in life. 7 billion people on this planet...

Absolutely superb. The whole world likes seeing the Yanks get one stuck to them. Femke Bol is a hell of an athlete. Multiple golds for her this next week or so I think.
