"West Ham United sign Argentinian World Cup winner Guido Rodr??guez West Ham United is delighted to confirm the signing of Argentina international, FIFA World Cup and two-time Copa Am?©rica winner Guido Rodr??guez. Defensive midfielder Rodr??guez arrives at London Stadium on a free transfer, having departed Spanish club Real Betis, where he had spent four-and-a-half seasons, at the expiry of his contract in June. Capped 30 times by his country, Rodr??guez started with Argentinian giants River Plate before winning Mexican league and cup titles playing alongside Edson ?Ålvarez at Club Am?©rica, and the Spanish Copa del Rey with Manuel Pellegrini‚Äôs Betis in 2022. A strong tackler with outstanding positional sense and accurate passing ability, Rodr??guez is relishing the opportunity to show off his talents in the Claret and Blue of West Ham. ‚ÄúI‚Äôm very happy to be here,‚Äù smiled Rodr??guez, who won the Copa Am?©rica in 2021 and 2024, either side of lifting the Finalissima and World Cup trophies in 2022. ‚ÄúI feel like it‚Äôs every footballer‚Äôs dream to play in the Premier League, and I was very excited when I heard that West Ham were interested in me. ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs a historic Club, that has a really interesting project. I think it‚Äôs the right Club for me, at the right time, and I hope together we can keep growing. I spoke to Edson [?Ålvarez] before signing, and we‚Äôre both really looking forward to working together again. ‚ÄúI will help the team in any way I can. I will bring experience to the team, and though I‚Äôm aware the Premier League is very physical, I‚Äôm ready to put the work in to make sure I‚Äôm up to the task."

Re: Rodr??guez Signed
"Not fussed about his age for a freebie. We've signed an 18 y/o and a 22 y/o for the first team too so it's not like we're just targeting oldies. It looks like we're going for players who are in their prime too, which I think is a sign that the manager wants us to be competitive straight away. Sounds like he wants a mix of potential and experience and somewhere in between which is exactly what you need."

Re: Rodr??guez Signed
It'll be marvellous if he's similar to Mascherano. I still find it odd that Mullins justifiably kept Mascherano out of the starting 11.

"Nice, good backup or first team if he's up to it. Birthday 12 April, 30 ain't bad for a free. Also I feel it all shows he wants to be with us, play for us and win with us."

Re: Rodr??guez Signed
"Will have to wait before passing judgement, another old fuck though. That said, you also need a side for the here and now and maybe we can seriously introduce a few youngsters this season, and not bringing them on with two mins left like the twat did."
Re: Rodr??guez Signed
"Did read somewhere that our squad had gone from an average age of 25 to 27, no idea if that is true. Hopefully a decent signing this. Hopefully keeps a bit of cash in the pot for another Cb"

"I know nothing about this guy so will reserve judgement on his ability. However, it is worth pointing out this is yet another 30+ year old signing being added to one of the oldest squads in the Premier League. Relegation battle ahead."

Re: Rodr??guez Signed
Lovely stuff. Another one through the door and makes sense to have options at CDM. We weren't good without Alvarez last season.
