Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"My first game: West Ham United Colts v Briggs Minors Boleyn Ground FA Youth Cup - Second Round Tuesday 6th November 1956 - Kick Off 7pm (Floodlit) ............................,,,B Goymer.................. J KKirkup.......................................................A.Howe ..............C.Lewis.......R.Moore..........J.Lyall C.Rowlands...Smith.J..Fenn....J Cartwright...McDonald A couple of names you might recognise. Not that they meant anything to me at the time. Why this match? My dad who was West Ham born and bred, but who was more into boxing than football. Always had a boy's night out on Tuesday. This particular Tuesaday the boxing was cancelled and one his mates played Briggs Motors. They decide to go and took me along as I had been nagging about wanting to go to West Ham. I was just nine years old it was under lights and magical and I was hooked. Oh yes the result ........we won 13-1 A year later I was going to games with my mates in time to see us promoted to Division 1. And I saw the same R.Moore listed above make his debut against Man Utd. This time I knew he was."

Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
Lowlife Re that Brighton game at the Goldstone If it's the one I'm thinking about they still had the fences up Pissed down with rain all day with no cover and we were kept in for what seemed like an age at the end with the old bill proper taking the piss. You couldn't get a drink in town and our motor got broken into in the multi storey car park. Brady had just signed if I remember rightly.
Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"As a schoolboy, with my mates, we would exit immediately the final whistle went and rush to hop on a trolley bus to Barking town centre. There we would encounter people queuing for the 87or 62 busses having just come out of the Vicaridge Field where Barking played. Back home my grandfather would be mulling over his Littlewoods coupon to see where he’d gone wrong."

Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"March 1989 away to Brighton. Lost 3 nil. Memories of that game are Phil Parkes being done at his near post, and seeing knuckle dusters on the floor of the away end on the way out."

Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"Grew up in South East London but my best friend's Dad was a Palace supporter so we had a birthday treat to see Palace/West Ham at Selhurst Park. Early 70s and I was ninie or ten. All I remember is that it was a draw, Mervyn Day was our keeper and he was our busiest player too."

Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"Sheffield Wednesday, 16.10.1965. Won 4-2. 2-1 down at half time if I recall correctly… Memory tells me I (and 2 cousins) got the bus there from Barking and was outside the North Bank gates at about 9.30 and there was still a handful of kids already there. Managed to get a place against the wall at the front (but unfortunately not right behind the goal). Don’t remember anything else and much of the above is a murky recollection up for challenge…"

"Against sp*rs The place was rammed. about !959. No roof on the Northbank Loads watching from the balconies and rooves of the flats. Never been crushed so much when coming out of the northbank. Can't even remember the score but I think the scumbags won it. Had been to Chelsea Fulham, Charlton and Arsenal before that but rhe atmosphere at West Ham hooked me , and I've suffered ever since"
Re: What was the first Hammers game you attended?
"1962 v Fulham, 2-2. Same season, v Blackburn, lost 1-0. My dad took me and, aged 9, I at last took an interest in football and in fact it pretty much took over my life."
