"I must admit Arnie features in some of my most watched/ favourites of mine. Not a great actor in craft, but made his presence beyond great actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti who can be considered elite but almost still underrated. Out of Alf’s mentions, Paul Newman is equal to Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood as best ever imo. Stole ever frame no matter who they appeared with, and without being selfish and showy."

"Sylvester Stallone is very underrated as a film actor. Love Rocky, Rambo and Cop Land in particular."

"Yep Pesci is great, came out of retirement for The Irishman. The most menacing small guy ever. First Blood is one film where I would have liked to have gone to see some of the film locations in Hope, Canada, seen some YT vids, obviously a lot has changed now and the bridge has gone."

"Manuel, I agree with first blood, I’ve watched that movie so many times. Never gets old. Surprised nobody has mentioned Joe Pesci, home alone, my cousin Vinny, Casino, Goodfellas, Raging Bull. He’s been in some good movies over the years."

"De Niro is clearly a superb actor and also love Jack Nicbolson with the bias being one flew over is my favourite ever film. When you're talking the blokes who have done the films that you can watch over and over again though, you can't look further than Clint, sly and arnie. Probably not many normal blokes who haven't seen the likes of the good the bad and the ugly, rambo and predator more times than they can remember."

"Let's agree to disagree on that, Nagel. Box office wise it's Samuel L Jackson, or Harrison Ford, depending on whose calculations you believe."

"By 'body of work', are we talking critically acclaimed, or box-office success? If the later, think Tom Cruise will be hard to beat."

"There's a bit more to it than that, Nagel. Woody Harrelson says it’s “very much true” he is Matthew McConaughey’s brother. The Natural Born Killers actor, 61, earlier this month called on McConaughey, 53, to get a DNA test after backing up his belief they could be biological brothers, and has now doubled down on the claim by saying he is convinced of the fact due to similarities in their personalities. Harrelson told the new issue of Esquire magazine: “Well, it’s very much true. I learned from Ma Mac, Matthew’s mother, that she did have a relationship with my father for a relatively short period of time that coincided with the time that his father and mother were on a sabbatical, and with the time of Matthew’s, let’s say, origination. “We haven’t done a test, but there are too many times that I think to myself, My God, the similarities! The things he does, the things he says - just the way he is. I’ve felt that for years.” Also, Woody's dad was a hit man."

"There isn't really ""a very good chance"" that they're related. The story they put out was that McConaughey's mother said that she knew Woody's father many years ago. That's pretty much it. The rest is just conjecture. *puts on Columbo mac* Oh, just one more thing. That story came out during an interview discussing an upcoming TV comedy project they're doing together, titled ""Brother from another Mother"", in which they play fictionalised versions of themselves. Hmmm."

"Matthew McConaughey is an excellent actor. Strangely, there's a very good chance that he's Woody Harrelson's (who I also like) half brother though they have yet to do a DNA test."

"Alfs 4:38 Sat Aug 17 I'd go with that Alfs but I think I'd have to put Hanks in there as well as most of his films are decent enough. Agree on McConaughey and think DiCaprio, Denzel, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins and Harrison Ford are on the ""film stars"" list although not to the extent of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Steve McQueen was my favourite as a kid but also liked the Newman's, Heston's, Burton's, Eastwood's, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne. You didn't know much about them though, as chat shows were in their infancy and you had these big blockbusters up on the big screen."

True about Burt Lancaster Don’t miss the Italian film he did directed by Visconti ‘The Leopard’ (‘Il Gattopardo’) with Claudia Cardinale & Alain Delon in the early 60’s Magnificent

"The 'real men' era probably changed in the 80s when everything went to extremes. On the one hand you suddenly had all these bodybuilders and martial arts people - Arnie, Stallone, JCVD, Chuck Norris, etc. - and on the other you had the skinny good looking brat pack types the girls would go for. That's pretty much continued to this day."
