"JWP over Soucek is a wild take Soucek goes missing, too scared to get on the ball. Too scared to take it in tight areas and when he does get on it struggles to pass it anywhere else than 5 yards backwards. I am not a big fan of JWP either but he is a far better option than Soucek. As i have said many times in the last year the main reason we were so low on possession stats under Moyes was because he picked Soucek every week."

As Ten Hag said about Man U tonight I dont think anyone is really ready for this first game so could be some unexpected results. Villa's preseason form has been as mediocre as ours and dont expect they have had their full line up in a game either. They have had a fair bit of turnover also but mentioned earlier I think Douglas Luiz was a bit underated and hopefully they miss him more than they expected

Mex mate... I like the sentiment but you need to get with the programme. Soucek as sole CDM and JWP ahead of him is asking for trouble. Plus Earthy is out on loan at Bristol City. "Rossal I'llbe more livid if JWP starts. I think he is more of the problem than Soucek. When was his last really good game and effective set piece. He can't beat the first man at corners and how many times has he hit the wall at free kicks. let him get that record in the u21's,fed up with his dire involvement.Bowen is better at corners. The difference in the 1st half when Soucek actually played some good long passes and JWP backward passes was evidence itself. Soucek is hemmed in by JWP. Get rid."

Why JWP or Soucek? Surely Paqueta starts alongside Guido allowing Summerville to start with Kudus and Bowen and then Antonio / Fullkrug up top.
