Got a feeling we're gonna get turned over 3-1 today and the lineup ain't gonna be what we want to see. I just hope for some promising signs that we can successfully keep the ball and look dangerous going forward while being competent at the back. I think we will come good but it's going to be a couple of months before we start looking decent.

Only 1 point last season so I’m not expecting too much! Score draw I reckon. I want to see a quality performance against a side that’s inthe Champions League and no schoolboy fuck ups!

"ludo21 7:28 Thu Aug 15 and Westham67 7:37 Thu Aug 15 I am not sure what is the bigger risk? If we do go 1 defensive midfielder: Soucek has the experience, yes he has his defencies, but he does a more than ok job. Rodriguez, is new to the Premier can be come is nd so the job on his own first game, that is also a risk. Ludo, I have to say, I like your attacking line. Would love to see that. Bowen, Kudus, Summerville Fullkrug"

3.3 draw I reckon Bowen Koidos Paqueta for us Cock ups at the back our undoing Creswell booked and gives a way a pen after coming on as an 85th minute sub to shore up the defence at 3.2

"optimistic but realistic. New Manager, a few new signings, new approach, we will be in 'getting to know each other' mode for a little while, while Villa are a strong well drilled cohesive outfit. Of course I hope to be wrong but can see us losing this one if honest. We need to be patient and J-Lo needs time."

"From what i have understood we will see a 4141 defensively, and a 433 going forward. Who our holding midfielder will be is obviously a pure guess, but I'm holding out for Rodriguez before Soucek. Paqueta is a must, so who gets the last spot will be interesting to know. Even if Kudus isn't a typical three-midfield player, I'll bet in him being there. Up front it has to be Bowen, Fulllkrug and Summerville. I'm really looking forward for this. 2-1"

"Can’t wait for our season to start, how good is it everyone has a team made up with different options? Such a difference to last season’s shit. Really hope we click sooner rather than later and manage to bloody some entitled noses. I’m impatient for Moyes mainstream media mates to about turn and for us to get a bit of credit for having him gone….. albeit far too late."

"Found this article. Sort of describes in part how I feel after 65 years of supporting West Ham :-). Can Loppy and all these signings not prove to be another false dawn. Instincts for me, an eternal pessimist, are strangely positive as the obvious squad weaknesses seem to have been addressed. Got to hope Loppy can get the team functioning efficiently and effectively asap."

"Duran could well start for Villa as Watkins is not deemed up to full fitness after teturning late and playing only one preseason game after the Euros. The potential for irony is there with him bagging a goal or two :-(. But lets hope this Todibo is a difference maker. I personally an not too confident in the Kilman / Mavropanas or Aguerd pairings? In fact it seemed our biggest weakness in the preseason games along with Coufal at right back. Midfield also looked a tad pourous the first 3 preseason run outs but the inclusion of Rodriguez and return of Paqueta first half against Celta Vigo appeared to tightening that up. I have a feeling that Loppy will start with the 2 Czechs Soucek and Coufal though as they have featured throughout preseason. That is a worry. Going to be interesting though. Hope we can get a result but at this stage, of what is a major transition, the performance is almost as inportant and if we are showing the “gelling” is well underway, I wont be too alarmed."
