Lopetegui (sacked 8.1.2025)
I was thoroughly looking forward to the start of this season
Was also prepared that things might take some time and wasn't expecting miracles over night What I didn't expect was a manager who after spending 6 weeks with the total dross he'd been left by Moyes would deem them fit to start in a premier league game And low and behold all of them played absolute shit
We're now 1 game in and none of our new players are any closer to bedding in or learning anything from their new team mates cos they barely spent a second on the pitch, half of them not at all I think it's gonna take somewhere between 6-10 games before we see the team anyone with an ounce of sense would play cos this bloke can't identify shit when he see's it I thought we was handed a miracle at half time when we went in level and low and behold he changed nothing I'm sure people are gonna make excuses for him and say it's too early to judge
But from what I've just seen today, this cսnt is David Moyes in a mission impossible mask

I also forgot he’s also about as useful at controlling a football as you are at controlling the amount of diarrhoea that comes out of your mouth

Re: Lopetegui
"You’re right Goose, he must be a great striker because he’s played there regularly for West Ham The fact it’s not his natural position, or that he never scores or is regarded as dog shit by the majority of the fan base is all irrelevant because once again you say so"
Re: Lopetegui
"Mav I make u mostly right except Mavropanas whoI thought was pretty decent and as good as Kilman. He will probably make way for Todibo and in preseason was not greay but yesterday was generally decent imo. We are suffering now with the legacy of recruitment of the Moyes era. We cannot shift the old slow, technically wanting and / or high earners to get the funds for a quality young powerful striker and a creative, playmaker with legs in midfield. Ings, Aguerd, JWP hard to shift as their wages puting buyers off. antonio Soucek, Coufal not good enough as starters but need some back up and Soucek and Antonio useful if we want to go direct when possession / pressing / play thru midfield not working. But currently their presence and that lack of pace, pressing it causesmeans we can still only be effective playing long ball Moyesball"

Re: Lopetegui
Get real folks. Lopetegui is a serial failure. We will lose at Palace and at home to City and will enter September with ZERO points. The signing of this chump and the summer transfer window business by 'TIM THE TRANSFER GENIUS' will prove to be complete disasters as we slump towards a relegation battle. Mark my words.

Re: Lopetegui
Coffee I don’t think these new staff do understand that I don’t think they have any clue how bad the squad they’ve been left with actually is And I think the fact they saw no reason to change a single thing at half time is a sign of this

Re: Lopetegui
"Antonio isn’t a striker It doesn’t matter who you put up front They could be good, bad, fit, injured or even dead, they won’t be any worse The point you’re trying to make only works if the players that played instead actually had good games yesterday otherwise what you’re saying is pointless Do you think Antonio, Coufal, Soucek and Mavropanos had good games yesterday?"
Re: Lopetegui
"Mav Look, there's no alternative but to wait. The coaching staff know when to throw a new player into the mix and in due time they'll all have their chance. Until then they're going to have to do with the players available. Patience."

Re: Lopetegui
"I used that analogy so even you might be able to understand but alas still no How about this one I think you‚Äôre a thick, pig headed cսnt But id still rather play you up front with a broken leg than Antonio As a narcissist you probably agree with that one"

Re: Lopetegui
"I would rather lose games with the new players as they get up to speed Than lose games with Moyes’s old team and waste time getting the best out of what we’ve brought in Since the turn of the year, those players picked up the 17th least amount of points in the league last season There are 4 or 5 of them that have had their chance, they simply don’t perform on a regular basis"
Re: Lopetegui
"The answer is none of your options. It gets done on the training pitch. They need time training together. As for your nonsense Haaland analogy, we‚Äôre talking a centre forward in F?ºllkrug who has largely knocked around the bottom half of the bundesliga and the second division. He ain‚Äôt Haaland."

Re: Lopetegui
"I don’t know how many times it has to be explained to you Goose You’re saying you can’t chuck 5 new players into a team and expect them to all play brilliantly That’s fine But here’s the two parts you’re ignoring They need time on the pitch to gel, they aren’t going to do that by sitting on the bench So you have two options, you either start them or give them significant time coming off the bench My 2 issues are none of them coming off the bench was given any worthwhile minutes And here’s the biggest point, if they’d of been started, all of them might of been poor, but they wouldn’t of been any worse than the awful players he selected to play instead of them That’s the point I’m trying to make that you’re refusing to understand Here’s a comparison, Haaland on a bad day is still a far superior striker than Antonio on a good day I think the players that played yesterday instead are absolute toilet, it’s as simple as that"

Re: Lopetegui
"I note there is a lot of gushing praise out there from West Ham fans on Aston Villa, when did we become so limp wristed? Yea they're a decent side, nothing special imo and were dumped out the conference league by a Greek outfit, and I'll also tell you they won't get far in the CL this season. This result could have been different, I don't doubt that but the manager had a stinker. All eyes on him at Palace next week, and let's not forget he's been bigging himself up in pressers. Talk is cheap as they say."
Re: Lopetegui
"Sense by saying you can‚Äôt chuck 5 or 6 new players into a side, with little time to work with those players, and expect it to work. That‚Äôs why it rarely happens. Nobody is saying they don‚Äôt expect AWB, Modibo and F?ºllkrug to play - just not all at once in game #1."

Re: Lopetegui
"Todibo, AWB and Fullkrug will all be starting the games far sooner than later. Most of us were saying Todibo wouldn't start yesterday anyway. AWB had a knock apparently so it is what it is regarding him. The Brazilian lad is clearly one for the future and Summerville is never starting over Kudus or Bowen at the moment. Rodriguez started the game. It was always going to have to be one of JWP or Soucek alongside him given what the squad is at the moment and that Alvarez is injured. I'd have had JWP over Soucek but there you go. If you think we gt cut through badly as it was, then Rodriguez, Paqueta and Kudus in there would have been even worse. Subs wise, I'm sure it would have been different had Bowen and Paqueta not been away all summer. It looked pre planned to me that they'd only play that long. By the time we play Man City, or even maybe next weekend, AWB fitness permitting, Todibo and Fullkrug will all be starting. Assuming no more arrivals or departures in midfield, (we need one more in) it'll be Rodriguez and JWP until Alvarez gets back. It's a lot of change for one summer. Whatever the manager does anyway, it's clear a few people have made their minds up already regardless. Yeah he might turn out to be a bad hire but you don't objectively come to that conclusion off of one game."

Re: Lopetegui
"Mike to be fair the manager only played two of our summer signings and that's because he had to, Rodriguez came in for Alvarez and Kilman for Zouma. Those that think Soucek should be binned may have to get used to him being in the starting line up as he took the armband when Bowen went off. Yesterday was poor, the starting line up was confusing, we had one attempt on target in the 1st half, the penalty and could've have been 3 down if they'd taken only a couple of their chances It was all very underwhelming and I'll be staggered if that starting line up is the one that starts at Palace"

Re: Lopetegui
Make a case how Fullkrug and Wan-Bissaka could’ve put in a worse performance yesterday than Antonio and Coufal?

Re: Lopetegui
But you’re ignoring the fact we still played shit and lost anyway So how on earth could it be any worse???? We’ve got more new players that are supposed to be first team starters than any other club this season Plenty of other clubs started more new signings than we did 2 didn’t even feature at all and the ones that did come on were given so little time on the pitch that it won’t of benefitted them at all So come the next game if there’s a genuine case to make why these new players shouldn’t be starting then there’s no way they should be playing in the next game either

"So, throwing ALL our new signings into the game yesterday and plugging the gaps left with Moyes' ""Old Guard"", was the correct, text-book thing to do?"

Re: Lopetegui
Sense and balance? By predicting what would’ve happened if we’d of played more new signings and ignoring what did actually happen by sticking with Moyes’s dross There’s a lot of sense in that providing you’re a drooling vegetable

"SUM A DING WONG 2:22 Sun Aug 18 To be fair, goose has a lot more of the sense and balance that Mav lacks."
