"Fraser Then I guess that also makes Lopetegui a total fucking idiot too with absolutely no fucking clue as to what he is doing, whilst we're still in the Cup, 2 wins under his belt, 2 clean sheets with Soucek playing all the time... It's clear his excellent battling qualities, attitude and goal scoring ability is what gets him game time and isn't something to be easily dismissed. Many a player in the past has West Ham had where they haven't reached his level of goal scoring regularity from midfield - 28 goals in the Premier League alone which is the most anyone has scored for us - with the added ability to battle like the Terminator and not be a dirty bastard at it always getting suspended is of real value to a Squad that's successful. The Cup win in Europe and top 10 finishes in 6th ,7th, 9th are the evidence of that since he arrived whilst qualifying for Europe 3 seasons in a row off the back of fighting relegation when he 1st arrived. But yeah, what a totally useless waste of cunting space that Soucek is...."

"The problem with saying that Fullkrug is a box striker, needs service/balls whipped in, is limited in what he can do etc, is that it all sounds very old fashioned. Might as well have signed Chris Wood."

"How many clear cut chances did we create for Fullkrug? How many times did Summerville / Bowen get to the by-line to put balls in the box? The guy is a box striker - can hold it up and finish. He wont be running in behind, that's what Bowen / Kudus / Summerville are for. Fuck me give the geezer a chance"

"The one thing I would say about Fullkrug is he does his best stuff when the ball is played to feet with his back to goal. He has some neat link up play, for example his touch for Summerville when he blazed it over in the first half. Give him that with movement around him and I think he’ll do fine, ask him to chase balls over the top and clearly he won’t. Pump balls up to any strikers head to flick on and they’ll all look shit. It’s not the 90’s with a big man, little man combo up front."

"cholo 11:22 Thu Aug 29 You have to consider the squad their manager was working with first up compared to ours, and they were at least trying to play a certain way. Also, our manager has apparently been watching us for the last year with the belief he'd become our manager, so I'd have expected to see good early signs. Pre-season we looked just as shit. It's not the results that I'm bothered about at the moment, it's the fact that in our first 2 league games, we are punting long, aimless balls up top to Antonio & Soucek, both Villa and Palace were waltzing through us time after time, and there doesn't seem to be any cohesion and obvious pattern of play other than ROUTE 1 Come to Bournemouth with new players integrated, and we are punting long, aimless balls up top to Fullkrug & Soucek. Anyone who has watched us like he has in recent times, and makes Soucek a main attacking outlet, gives off massive red flags. Let's be clear, I'm desperate for this manager to do well, as the last 2 seasons in the league have been painful to watch. But the early signs are not good."

To be fair the Bournemouth manager has been there over a year. I remember playing them a year ago and they were there for the taking if Moyes hadn't done a Moyes and purposely killed his own team's momentum.

"If we're questioning a 31 year old Fullkrug, then just imagine what it's' going to be like when he's 34 old. I thought it was a strange transfer for the club to make considering we're sat here desperately trying to get rid of Ings."

"If you’re gonna play Fullkrug, he’s not gonna threaten any defence running in behind them, We need to be able to play our way up the pitch, and that’s almost impossible when the middle of the pitch is completely empty. It simply doesn’t suit Soucek. Only 3 games in but I could not tell you what our game plan or style of play is. Bournemouth on the other hand looked incredibly well coached."

The fact we’re constantly linked with Soler would suggest Soucek isn’t a long term option in the managers eyes

"I first saw this sacrificing a place in the team with the jock bastard and felaini, which he then carried it on with tomas. I didn't expect the next manager to adapt the same tactic, I'm hoping it's an early blind spot but the signs are very worrying"

"If Soucek starts on Saturday then we will have to assume he's going to be a permanent fixture moving forward. It was a bit strange with Duran as we clearly wanted him but then went and bought a striker in a different mould? I think Saturday is one of them games where performance is also important as well as the result, we are likely to lose but we need to see things shaping up and improving under the Spanish Alan Curbishley."

"When he moved Bowen up front I said that's what's going to happen most of this season if we don't sign another striker Fullkrug looked painfully slow last night. You can see what Lop wants with him sitting deeper than the narrow Bowen and Summerville and maybe it can work, but not with that midfield. But can definitely see how playing like that Duran would have made us better with his movement and pressing from the front. As for Soucek, this Massive Attack is a fucking idiot with his listing of, won a penalty blah blah, absolute passenger again last night who struggled with the simplest of passes and controlling the fucking football.. Bit it's OK we can play a man light and then when he pops up with a goal it will be worth playing shit turgid football because our midfield has had no cohesion and he's offered nothing for the games when he hasn't scored."

"It's hard to describe how bad Soucek was last night, and I'm properly questioning this manager already over it. It is fucking madness that he is starting. As for Fullkrug, see Haller & Scamacca. Once again, we have a player who played for Dortmund in the CL Final and has 1 in 2 for Germany, yet looks shit for us because we're playing boring long ball shitcunt football and not getting proper support up to him."

"but Duran isn't a better option when the bloke directly behind him can't pass the fucking ball. the manager, like the previous one, is the problem having him in such a key position. (soucek) nicest bloke on the planet, but shouldn't be an automatic starter"

"When we were first linked to Fullkrug the conception was it was a deflection to false Villa's hand with Duran, but no we actually signed the carthorse, and for 27 mil. Happy to be proved wrong but can't say I'm confident he will be a success, meaning yet another season with Antonio, unless he pushes Bowen up there."

"If we are going to play like this under the new manager. Then unlikely Fullkrug will succeed. As once again he will be isolated, chasing shadows and given next to zero scoring opportunities. Duran would have been a much better option but we are where we are."

Everything is bouncing off Fullkrug like he's allergic to the football. Nothing is sticking to him which is a surprise considering his build and runs slower than Noble running in jelly. For the hefty outlay he was the signing that most concerned me and I've seen nothing at all yet to allay those fears. Hopefully he smashes the winner in on Saturday to kick start his season in to gear.
