Russell Brand
Dispatches tonight could be about him so he has jumped in first dismissing claims and rumours and saying anything he did in past was consensual. No doubt it will be said that this is The Matrix coming after him due to his opposition to mainstream media.

Re: Russell Brand
There were enough incidents by the sound of it so that both the BBC & C4 should have challenged him and dealt with that behaviour. Sounds like it was tolerated because he was successful for them and a blind eye was turned. He obviously thought he was bullet proof To jump up now and pretend its the first theyve heard of it is a bit Saville like

Fauxstralian 4:37 Fri Sep 22 Re: Russell Brand So there's not enough evidence to cancel him but the BBC and Channel 4 should have acted on that lack of proof?

Re: Russell Brand
Havent followed the career of R Brand as he has morphed into this SAGE rolling in money. What IS concerning is this pitchfork mentality where he is being cancelled / banned / removed before anything has been proved. More concerning given the stories about his antics is that the likes of the BBC & Channel 4 are throwing up their hands and proclaiming this is the first they have EVER heard of it. Just like with Jimmy Saville. GIVE ME A BREAK Its not as though he was ever hiding his behaviour

"So out of over 2000 women Brand has had sex with a handful of them have waited 15-20 years to report him and the one saying he showed his todger to her, we don't know the full context of what was going on. Yes he's done some stupid things in his younger days but he isn't Jimmy Savile as much as the media are wanting people to think of him on that way. I'm no fan of his these days but this whole media thing is an absolute joke."

"Without wishing to sound overly dramatic, that is balsam to my troubled soul, southbank. Experience tells me that a professional prosecutor free from political nudging, however slow and conservative (small c), is mostly what really keeps us in a democracy. Not all that fussed about what happens to Brand as long as that is the case."

Re: Russell Brand
"Lots of people essentially making points about the 'soft P' politics of the Brand investigation. Many of those points may, or may not be, true. I don't doubt that the police feel under external pressure to act in some way - irrespective of the detail of the allegations (and they are just allegations at the moment). That's a dangerous position - and one that has led the police down the wrong path before. But don't forget that the real body that will drive the ultimate decision is the Crown Prosecution Service - and, rightly or wrongly, the CPS is an innately conservative, often legally hesitant, body. The CPS has to review any files and will only prosecute if it feels there is a 51% chance or more of securing a conviction. They often knock-back hastily compiled police reports - including those driven by a media frenzy. Beyond media reports (always inflated to sensationalise), I have little idea exactly what alleged evidence the police have on Brand - and he's rightly innocent until proven guilty. But, as yet, we've not seen/heard a huge amount of evidence that would support a criminal prosecution in the UK."

Re: Russell Brand
"Is there anyway back for sex offenders in our society? I feel like once you are guilty of a sex crime society thinks you cannot be rehabilitated and therefore never trusted again. And since no one trusts you or wants to be around you publicly, getting jobs or even housing must be extremely hard unless your loaded. It's interesting to me that people will forgive murderers, disgusting levels of violence etc.. but not sex offences. Btw, I'm not saying society should, or even that I would (I'm not mother Theresa!). Just that I think the stakes are very high for sex offences. I've always thought they would be better off grading them like they do murder. I just think with such high stakes no one will admit to anything even if it's relatively trivial. And we won't get anywhere near eradicating the behaviour."

"Chim. I dont take offence but appreciate your response. I had only one point on the Covid thread, we all die. Its important to recognise that and know when there’s stories about viruses and vaccines how that fact might have changed, particularly if people are genuinely scared. Thats a bit different to imagining a wing of political views and assigning it to an alleged sex pest. Anyway. You were once one of my favourite posters on here and you seem to have returned to your old upbeat best. Long may it continue."

Re: Russell Brand
"Plus, I'm sure that you've ALL worked out by now that Brand must (MUST) be charged & convicted of one of these allegations, or one closely related to such claims - innocent or not. The circus has been acting in full public view for too long now, and picked up several fully loaded bandwagons, for it only to collapse like a stack of dominoes and further deter women from coming forward and reporting such crimes for fear of a repeat public performance."

"BRANDED I'm sorry mate, I didn't mean to vilify you in one of my earlier posts, it was just that you made your point on the covid thread and defended it solidly again and again and again for what seemed like about three years. Actually a lot of you said was right, but it was one of the prime times I have seen someone on WHO go well over making a point and repeating themselves to the point where I doubted their sanity. Although it SOUNDED personal, I wasn't trying to dig you out, rather than make a point about how easy it can be to go down the WHO rabbit-hole. No offence meant and sorry if it seemed that way."

Re: Russell Brand
"I suppose that this is all a complete coincidence, blowing up as it has, just as that government bill restricting what content sites can carry is passing through parliament. Don't forget that a protester from Fathers for Justice was charged under the new, specific anti-terrorism laws not so long ago, so don't ever think parliament will not use every weapon at it's disposal to make sure people stay ""on message""."

Re: Russell Brand
"Interesting that the Chair of Culture, Media and Sport committee in UK parliament has been writing to all the media and social media to get Russell Brand deplatformed or demonetized. It's clear government are involved the cancelling of someone who is yet to be formally charged of anything. How is this acceptable? If he is guilty of anything illegal then let the courts decide. It's not for government to influence outcomes."

"‘What YouTube has done to Brand has nothing to do with his “customers.” No one buys anything from him. YouTube simply stop running ads on his videos for what amounts to a morality clause.’ Unreal you actually come out with that after arguing for two days against me saying he makes his money from YouTube, not right wingers."
