"So you think it desirable that Russia get their empire back, regardless of the desires of the people who would live under it, because of a grudge against America."

"Sorry, That was a quote in summary of his stance. These are direct quotes… “The defeat and collapse of the Soviet Union was the final step in the rapid ascendance of a Western Hemisphere power, the United States, as the sole and, indeed, the first truly global power. ... ... it is imperative that no Eurasian challenger emerges, capable of dominating Eurasia and thus also of challenging America."" ""Without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be a Eurasian empire. Russia without Ukraine can still strive for imperial status, but it would then become a predominantly Asian imperial state, more likely to be drawn into debilitating conflicts with aroused Central Asians, who would then be resentful of the loss of their recent independence and would be supported by their fellow Islamic states to the south. ... if Moscow regains control over Ukraine, with its 52 million people and major resources as well as its access to the Black Sea, Russia automatically again regains the wherewithal to become a powerful imperial state, spanning Europe and Asia."" So yeah. A US proxy war long sort after. Glad you can finally admit it, Pickle."

"Zbigniew Brzezinski died in 2017 and his last book was published in 2012. The misquoted fragment assumes the US is in confrontation with an aggressive, imperialistic Russia and traces exactly the correct policy line for the current situation."

Jaan Kenbrovin 5:37 Sun Apr 21 Re: The war in Ukraine Slops pushing Putin propaganda - yet again. Where’s you cut and paste that stuff from btw - Putinsarse.com? Brzizenski’s book is often held up by Russians as evidence but he’s still living in the Cold War if not the great game era. You haven’t read it have you - you’re just getting mugged off because you lack the basic understanding to put things in context.

"Of course it’s about regime change, Sherlock. That’s how the KGB maniac faces an international war-crimes tribunal and the whole sick kleptocracy in Russia is brought to justice. It’s either this or he rebuilds and pulls China into a war with NATO and the Asian democracies (though probably not India) within the next decade)."

"Hammer and Pickle 10:35 Sun Apr 21 That’s a lot of waffled shit to deflect from admitting it’s a US proxy war that is intended for regime change in Russia. Joe Biden ""For God's sake, this man cannot remain in power,"" Boris Johnson’s spokesperson - “The measures we are introducing, that large parts of the world are introducing, are to bring down the Putin regime.” James Heappey, UK Minister for the Armed Forces - “His failure must be complete; Ukrainian sovereignty must be restored, and the Russian people empowered to see how little he cares for them. In showing them that, Putin’s days as President will surely be numbered… He’ll lose power and he won’t get to choose his successor.” In 2013 Carl Gershman, Director of National Endowment for Democracy (NED), wrote: “Ukraine is the biggest prize.” He explained that if it could be pulled away from Russia and into the West, “Putin may find himself on the losing end not just in the near abroad but within Russia itself.” Zbigniew Brzezinski,(Former National security advisor to Jimmy Carter) wrote in his 1997 book The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geopolitical Imperatives - “The long-held US aim has been to push Ukraine away from Russia, as a major step towards constraining Russian strategy, and more distantly Chinese strategy too, thereby sustaining US primacy.” A man who a year later admitted the US set out to trap the Soviet Union in a war in Afghanistan, after President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul - “The day the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter, essentially: ‘We now have the opportunity of giving the USSR its Vietnam war.’ Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war that was unsustainable for the regime, a conflict that bought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.”"

This is a great example of the kind of decisive effectiveness we can expect from the nutjob populist; first they delay support so thousands die then they split their party without gaining any additional votes in the polls and the bill gets passed anyway. Of course they are the Kremlin's most fearsome WOMD - who needs to bother with hypersonic missiles when you can destroy an entire party from within?

"Nutsin 8:16 Sun Apr 21 Re: The war in Ukraine Biden has done a fantastic job, especially in standing up a coalition of democracies against the fascists and dictators of the work. Got the IRA passed, brought inflation down, record job creation. He’s a bit old but then your lot of loons run n 80-year-old rapist with rapidly worsening dementia against him. If you wanted to play the age card then perhaps sleepy don wasn’t the best choice."

"Ukraine has been trying to integrate into the normal world of normal government and capitalist free market economy since the Soviet Union collapsed. That is incidentally why it gave up its Soviet nukes in exchange for guarantees of security from the Western powers. Hence the US involvement you claim has made the Kremlin invasion of 2022 nothing but a stage in a proxy war declared by the US. It is this kind of nonsense that makes you nothing more than a Socialist Worker yapper, SBT2. You lot come two-a-penny in any student union, so whether you are actually Alf Gandhi is irrelevant; what matters is you have absolutely no political credibility because you believe a load of bullshit and are too thick to learn any sense. And you will fuck up any organisation you manage to infect, hence the state of the GOP we witness today. But you are back in the crank box where you belong now for the time being, which is good news for all the normal people all over the world."

"nychammer 2:41 Sun Apr 21 Re: The war in Ukraine NYC - you’re not as bad as some on here - but you do talk some utter bollocks. Do you not pay attention to what actually happens? By all means watch Fox and the like but at least try and absorb what’s happening in real time. Border security was added to the Ukraine funding not because they were trying to hoodwink you - but because the gop house demanded it be added to any Ukraine funding bill. It was, in the senate, on a bipartisan basis and it would have helped ease the issues at the border. But Trump put it out that he wanted it killed because he needs to run on border chaos. None of this I was remotely hidden as it was happening - so you need to ask yourself how you’ve ended up trotting out this little fairytale. You may not like Biden - you ay want different border politics - you may want different economic policies or less dei or woke or whatever - but right now you’re getting mugged off. Believe what you will but at least put the moderate amount of effort in to find out what’s happening so you base your beliefs on reality - not this nonsense you keep repeating. Huge win for the decent people of the world today - even Johnson finally grew a spine when he was looped into the reality the west faces if the fascist Putin regime defeats Ukraine."

"rios - not going to pretend I've read this bill, but it would not surprise me to see a hundred and one other line items not remotely related to 'Ukraine Aid' They tried to discreetly add this Ukraine Aid (and Israel Aid) in the last 'Border Security' bill (Lankford Bill) trying to hoodwink us into thinking it was to fix our own open borders. Not see why we cant just have transparency when it comes to spending. We have no idea what politicians are quietly adding to block spending bills that WE (rather our children and Grand children) are on the hook for."
