I guess the reality is any of the top coaches or exciting younger managers would have wanted a war chest to fix the aging and broken first 11. This guy is unemployed and wouldn’t have asked for as much. Had we moved on from Moyes at the end of last season we’d have probably got someone more exciting. I like the optimism and of course time will tell but it’s really about as unambitious as it could get.

Like others not the most inspiring appointment but if done right I can get onboard with it. We have a season of concentrating on the league and domestic cups and we should be challenging for a top six- seventh place. I would also like to see us go all out for both cups... no excuse not to."

"Not who we might want and already tarnished by the thought of him being a Sullivan choice via Salthouse ( same old same old Sully ) but key to me is Steidten and Noble’s thoughts and whether they believe there is common ground and shared values in how we play the game across all our teams, the type of player being recruited ( young, energetic and technically good ) and more importantly the desire to try and leverage our development squad where possible. Im hoping J Lo, Loppy or whatever he gets called is more of a coach than old style manager. No idea how things will go although one positive ( not like me to offer such things ) is that he is available now and gives more time for a huge rebuild. He will build around Alvarez in midfield and relies on a high pressing midfield if accounts of his time at Seville are true. Need 2 new, young, quick CBs a wide left midfielder, at least one better wing back and a fast forward. I hope he also sees that Kudus should be central like a no 10 behind the forward(s). Anyway, not exactly delighted but will give him at least half a season to see if he can progress how we play while getting results. It will take longer most probably but hopefully we will see signs of progress"

Lopetegui is obviously a good manager. Who contrary to what some are claiming plays football in an entirely different style to Moyes . Way more possession based for starters. We just have to hope steitden and noble are happy with the appointment.

Agree with most comments. Not necessarily the man I wanted either but we can't do anything about it and it can't be as bad as it is now. I will be interested to hear what he has to say when he arrives and how he shapes the squad in the summer. He can get allot of the doubters on his side very early on by saying the right things.
