"I said I was underwhelmed when Pelligrini was appointed but I didn't sit on here & social moaning 24/7. Don't think I even commented. When Billic, Moyes & Pelligrini were appointed they were all underwhelming appointments for various reasons but Lopitegui is a level above them in every respect and I can see why he was the preferred option. I can't understand the amount of negativity towards him, seems it's because it was allegedly Sullivan's choice which it actually wasn't."

"After the anti-football put out by Moyes I am quietly excited about our new Spanish waiter. His record is peppered with success along with some tough times. I like the fact he seems to be a man of principle and he plays a possession based games, generally 433. I hope that he isn't too strong headed to create friction with Tim or not give the youth an opportunity when he can. Welcome Julen, here's to much success."

We had it before when BFS left and we needed to be careful what we wished for... Bilic came in and but for a tail off in the last month we would have got a CL place. What a fantastic season that last one at UP was! We need to win something / qualify for Europe to ram the BCWYWF back down the throats of the MSM. I have confidence that that will come in the next couple of years.

"Only a small minority Roots. Most of our fanbase generally have it about right. One of the most knowledgeable fanbases out there that strikes a happy balance of knowing where we've come from and where we should be trying to get too. We also have the bollocks to say it straight and even argue amongst ourselves to figure out just what we want from our Club, manager and players in both results and style wise. We also don't put up with being gaslit by the Media on being careful what we wish for. In fact I hope our fanbase in time comes up with an original chant that encapsulates the be careful what we wish for nonsense."

"Can't believe some are still moaning FFS. No wonder our fans are getting a reputation. IMHO it's an astute progressive appointment, exactly what we needed and a level above anyone we've appointed previously including Pelligrini who's appointment I was underwhelmed by as he was a has been."

"Ludo Well they would only be monumentally thick on a par with the Sonny Perkins and Harrison Ashby's of the world (although in their defence their pathway was Moyes looking back now..), if they shunned him after both he and other's explained just what he's about when trusting youth and giving them a real chance to make it at the top. That is if they believe they belong in the Premier League. They ain't going to get a much better Coach to believe in them, that's for sure."

"Been confirmed by people genuinely in the know, rather than blokes guessing on the internet, that Steiden was very much in favour of the appointment. Seemed to be the biggest gripe with some, so got to be good news, and one less thing to moan about."

"I just love the fact he identifies, inspires and nurtures expertly genuine raw talent and gives them every chance of succeeding if they have something about them, in particular on the ball. Youthful, hard working, intelligent ball-playing Footballers is his forte, so let's see what he can weed out of our current crop of Academy player's after winning the FA Cup and League Cuo double. I bet after running his rule briefly over our Academy set-up he'll be encouraged about what we are currently doing there and would make it known he could tap in to it if he believes the talent is good enough for the Premier League. He isn't even afraid to rely heavily on quality youth even in the Champions League - See Neves/Casemiro at Porto or Kounde/En-Nesryi at Sevilla to win the Europa Cup against Inter Milan...."

"Lee Trundle 1:58 Thu May 9 No, I think you've lost the plot because of the dozens of posts you've made on the subject, way, way more than anyone else, and the fact that you've been posting up false data to try desperately to prove some kind of point. But, whatever... carry on filling your boots if that's what gets you through this devastating news."

"I'm starting to see Loppy as a stepping stone agreement between him and the club, he doesn't like staying anywhere long but can possibly get the squad into shape whilst an Amorim type manger progresses further in experience and can take over a squad here in a lot better shape. If it goes unbelievably well both parties agree for a continuation of the excellent job he is doing."

"Massive - I'm cautiously optimistic about Lop, what is clear that despite his age this is a coach than understands the modern game, but due to his age he also brings experience. Looking forward to him getting started and I reckon he'll be grafting 24x7 to make us better."

Meanwhile Troy Deeney has piped up. Suggesting players won’t trust Lopetegui because of walking out on Wolves. Troy Deeney who lasted 6 games as Forest Green manager during which time he threatened to punch an official in the head and publicly criticised his players. Why do media outlets give people like him airtime?

"Sounds good MA... he obviously does have a good relationship with Neves then if he game him his chance as a teenager, perhaps Neves might be interested in the 'project' if he tires of all the money in Saudi Arabia."

"I see that failure as a football club owner absolute helmet Simon Jordan has been mocking Lopetegui because Gary O’Neil has supposedly done a better job than him. Not sure what barometer he is using to base that argument on. You can only realistically use points per game, in which case O’Neil hasn’t done a better job. Incidentally, it also transpires Moyes is going to start doing some work for Talksport, which might also indicate why Stelling is peddling his agenda too. Jury is out on whether this is the right appointment but to stick two fingers up at these jokers is extra incentive to want it to be hugely successful. The same types of character made the same comments before Bilic took us on a memorable last season at the Boleyn."
