Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Stubbo 11:32 Thu May 9 ''Well according to a 'well known ITK',JLo is all signed up and has commenced working on recruitment with the Scarf. Announcement delayed until end of season, but signed and sealed is the suggestion.'' I'd say that's a given, just not announcing it out of this silly respect thing to Moyes, don't suppose it matters that he has never shown our club any respect. The way some go on you'd think he's been working for nothing, and not made circa 20 mil just to leave behind a complete mess, the cսnt."

"Arteta irritates the living shit out of me but he's producing good results and is on the up... unfortunately. Howe.. juries still out for me but on a par with 2nd group I'd concede. ""one ticket raffle"" agag We'll see but hopeful for J. LOPETEGUI"

"If you look at the managers with top half teams: Pep. - best in the world Then... Klopp/slot Arteta Emery Howe All pretty close to.top.class Then those with faults/problems Ange Ten haag/new mngr Poch Iraola (on the up?) De zerbi I reckon from what we know of J. LOPETEGUI. he's more capable than most of the 2nd group and maybe able to mix it with the top group. Either of these is better then DM at the moment. Hopefully we'll see a team greater than the sum of its parts, because some of the parts she Rolls Royce (Bowen Kudus Paq on his day, Areola imo... also Alvarez, Emerson and JWP(?) We saw that sometimes with DM but not for 18 to 24 months now."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"I just watched half that YouTube vid with the 2 Wolves fans and they were very complimentary about him football wise. Both called him an elite manager, said he was more pragmatic and played to their strengths when he arrived as they were rock bottom but did a great job getting them to 13th in the end. Then they had a good pre- season where the results were good and the style more attacking, and that O'Neill has benefited from it this season. The problems started because he was told they had to sell their best players before they could buy, so incoming deals would be happening at the end of the window which I guess wasn't in his plans or what he was promised. Apparently his journalist mate was putting stuff out on X about it which caused a lot of friction between fans. Didn't watch the rest as it's 45 mins long but guessing Trundles point is more about his character than abilities."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
He was told by Wolves there would be money. They changed their mind. They said he could find free transfers. They changed their minds. They said he could have loan players. They changed their minds. He left.

"Trundle, when he took over at Wolves at Xmas they were 5 points adrift at the bottom, but ended up 13th, 2 places above us. That's an achievement in itself so not bothered what Wolves fans have to say as needs must when you're in a relegation battle."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Trunds, listened to all that and what stands out to me is.....he got the owners to spend to get the players to give them stability to stay up and whilst the climb out of relegation was good it was a good few players short of the sorts of football he'd like to push on with. Then in the summer they didn't get the players he needs to push them on to fully expand into the type of football he'd like them to play.....so he fucked off as he wants to aim high and not be in a relegation fight season in season out. That's my take from it without listening to football fans thinking managers should stay with them and their struggles. He would have been restricted in how he wants to set up and he doesn't want that, it's the same attitude that got Mourinho and the like to be managerial winners."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"My take on it has been that Moyes consistently bad decisions for a very long time and that no other manager on earth would make the same decisions he has. So anyone is better to be honest. J-Lo will make better decisions than Moyes. He's technically a better manager and he has the same resources that Moyes has. So there's not much to worry about. My beef with Moyes is that his own ego stops him making the most basic logical decisions. Things like Soucek and JWP as a midfield pair, really?? thats just ego. Philips and then letting go of 3 1st team players in one window. Thats just ego again. Normal people dont make bit shit crazy decisions like that. I think we will be fine."
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Any Old Iron 9:22 Thu May 9 It's done and dusted mate. They're delaying the announcement until after Moyes has had a half hearted clap from the fans after our disappointing home result against lowly Luton fucking Town. Out of respect for.... Moyes being such a good manager or something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9SSObzoTNc A decent listen from a couple of Wolves fans about his time there. I'd mention what they've said but a few might not want to hear it.

"Once this feller actually puts pen to paper I might allow myself to get a bit excited about next season. But seeing as he hasn’t yet then I’ll still be worrying about the possibility of Pards coming back. By the way, do any of the Moyes backroom staff get to stay, or do they all get the bullet. Can’t say I’d miss Nolan the yes man with his ubiquitous i-pad."

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Agreed Vexed. A big bonus on Lopetegui is that he'll play a familiar formation to everyone. Amorim might be a better choice, but then again he plays 3 at the back."
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"This is an evolution not revolution type appoinment, which is probably sensible long term. Not exciting but switching from whatever the fuck you call what Moyes does, to an all out modern attacking game would probably melt the majority of our players minds. We'd need about twelve new players. This is a more sensible approat that more of our squad can hopefully get on with, along with competent tactics, ability to defend and actual substitutions that aren't like for like swaps on 65 mins every fucking week. We still need a fuck ton of players though. He likes his full backs and we probably need two of them for starters. At least two CBs, a left winger type and a centre forward. Plus a CM and maybe a Paq replacement. He must have been promised a couple of quid to spend surely?"
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
Well the guy hasn’t signed yet. And it ain’t as if his head hasn’t ever been turned. Or stuck around long enough. At the first flash of knickers by the big girls. As I said before. It’s going to be a long few weeks. And I will try and keep my powder dry. This is West Ham after all. And it’s never plane sailing! COYI

Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
"Would have preferred Amorim - damn you, RBShorty ;-) or Fonseca. However can’t believe Lopie isn’t a step up from the creativity vampire Moyes. Time will tell, but I’m more than happy to at least give the bloke a chance."
Re: Welcome to West Ham United Julen Lopetegui !!!
I was quite set on Fonseca so I mist admit I was a bit underwhelmed but I have since got used to the idea of Lopetegui. If rumours can be believed it looks as though the club are being proactive in the transfer market. If that means we have got a number of new faces in by the time pre-season starts then I'm prepared to be optimistic The majority of managers and staff will all bugger off on holiday once the season ends but I am assuming that Lop and TS will be hard at work getting the new order in place. By all accounts Lop is prepared to use the youth system so that coupled with some exciting additions can only take us forward. Considering that Moyes has been in place for four years the state in which he is leaving the playing staff at the club is bordering on criminal IMO. He had sucked the life out of players like Benrahma and Fornals and dismissed very good players like Downes. I would love to know what his intention with Flynn Downes was... sell him to Soton for 5m I expect. Not to mention Haller and Scamaca.
